In the evening you will meet Dimitri, your photography guide to give you an insight of all the wonderful things there are for you to discover. The voyage into the world of optical magic starts with a presentation of the work of great photographers, for inspiration and fresh ideas. You will also, discuss the program and design together the perfect itinerary to make the very best of your photography holiday time.

Enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure. We can recommend idyllic beach front tavernas and quiet bars to enjoy mouthwatering cocktails.

Day 2, Lose yourself in Zante town

The Treasure hunt begins…

The adventure starts with a visit to the very top of Zante Town, Bohali, with magnificent views over the town and harbour below. Let your stresses melt away, while wandering around the old Venetian Castle. Dimitri will be there to help you feel confident and at ease with your camera equipment. A leisurely walk through the pine forest, below the castle walls and along the colorful cobblestone streets, will reveal the hidden treasures of the old town and lead us down to the harbor where the fishing boats sit.

Time to explore the hidden gems, soak up the amazing local history and culture. Why not taste authentic local products, relax with a nice coffee, or enjoy lunch in one of the local tavernas, before heading back to Laganas.

In the evening, we meet again at Villa Spiros and spend a couple of pleasant hours, having a photo critic session, over drinks and fresh fruit. The best way to improve on your composition is to look at your pictures and analize the results, rather than the intention, see what is missing and what should not have been included.

Day 3, Having fun at Gerakas beach

Photography should not be all about rules and textbook implementation, it should also be fun! Let’s enjoy ourselves, try new things and experiment, making photography a fun activity.

The beach of Gerakas, a very important nesting ground of the sea turtle Caretta-Caretta makes the perfect setting for today’s photography workshop. We will walk down the cliffs with the Second World War gun turrets above, nestled amid the lush green folieage of the clifftops, to arrive at the picturesque beach where we will take today’s shots. You will also have the chance to use an underwater camera and capture the wonderful underwater world of Zakynthos. Today’s objective was to have fun and we will see if this transpires in our pictures. If you feel hungry, there’s ample choice of tavernas where you can enjoy a delightful beach lunch.

Day 4, Swimming at the Shipwreck Bay, combined with an Authentic culinary experience

Wake up at your own pace today and enjoy a relaxing summer morning in the lovely Laganas resort.

Around midday, we set off for an exciting drive to the north of the island once again, with several gastronomic stops along the way. One stop will be the olive oil factory where you can sample the zakynthian “Liquid Gold” the precious golden oil, which gives the zakynthian people their unique lust for life.

Arriving at the picturesque port of Porto Vromi, we will take a delightful boat ride to the world famous Shipwreck Bay for a once in a lifetime swimming experience. Backed by towering white cliffs, a favorite for base jumpers, with the most turquoise crystal clear waters anywhere on the island, a natural delight.

Later, we move on to our lovely lunch destination, a wonderful family owned and run traditional mountain taverna. Here in Orthonies village you will experience an authentic, traditional culinary experience! The grandmother of the family will show us step by step, how to cook a family recipe handed down from generation to generation. Free range stuffed chicken in tomato sauce with pasta, as well as a variety of starters including seasonal vegetables straight from the kitchen garden.

While the lunch is cooking in the traditional wood fire, the hosts of this delightful establishment will guide us on a short walk to their vegetable and herb gardens. Next, you will see a variety of small animals hand reared with care, which provides the family’s everyday nutrition needs. Later, back at the taverna, under the shade of a lovely old tree, we will enjoy an absolutely sensational lunch, which we helped cook accompanied by local wine. Homemade dessert will add that final sweet flourish to yet another wonderful culinary experience and satisfying lunch.

Day 5, Turtle boat trip and evening photo critic session

After a hearty breakfast, we set off for an exclusive aquatic experience to the heavenly “Marathonisi Island", remarkably shaped similar to our native sea turtle Caretta - Caretta.

Starting our trip from the small harbor at Agios Sostis, we board the small boat "Poseidon" for an exciting sea trip, in the famous sweeping bay, hoping to see and even swim alongside some of the large and extremely graceful loggerhead turtles. Next, we head out to sea for a short crossing to the breathtaking, uninhabited "Marathonisi Island", with its fine powder like sand, that captivates the water and nature lover alike. Natural and intriguing, with wonderful little caves to explore, just perfect for snorkeling, swimming or just a paddle.

Enjoy this tiny island beach experience!

In the evening, we will meet at Villa Spiros, for our second photo critic session over cheese and wine. By now you are becoming more familiar with the do’s and dont’s of creative photography and finding what delights you most, as each of us has a different appreciation of the natural world.

Day 6, Behind the scenes

Today, together with Dimitri, you will explore the hidden treasures located in the north part of the island, a paradise of natural beauty. The drive alone is magnificent, with green slopes all around and the endless, turquoise crystal clear, Ionian sea as the perfect backdrop.

The journey is planned so that you get a local’s feeling for the island, avoiding all the usual spots that the mass tourists visit. We will explore the little known paths off the beaten track, familiar only to locals. We will take a tour through the picturesque villages Louha & Giri, which still retain their traditional characteristics, wander around the colorful alleys, visit ruins of old mills and enjoy the glorious countryside. Hectares of cultivated land, spread before us, vineyards, olive groves, farms and tiny family owned factories, compliment this beautiful rural setting. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy a rustic country lunch, tantalizing your taste buds with yet more delicious home produced food. Scrumptious!

Before retiring for the evening, please submit your choice of three photographs for tomorrow’s farewell photo exhibit.

Day 7, Cheese and wine exhibition and farewell Greek celebration

Enjoy your day at leisure and in the evening we will gather at Villa Spiros to delight in an exhibit of your work. Over cheese and wine you will have the opportunity to discuss the week’s activities with your fellow photographers.

Dimitri will happily discuss and critique each exhibit giving everybody the chance to learn from each other’s successes and help you create a portfolio of your vacation work and set your new goals in your photographic quest.

You will have time to dress up before the farewell party begins at a nearby local taverna. There, we will enjoy an exclusive Greek celebration, comprising of great food, great company. Plenty of local wine and of course Greek music and dancing. A perfect complement to this rustic farewell meal!

Phew! A grand finale to a great week!
