You will be accommodated in a very cozy and traditional hotel at the village Keramos Studios and there you will have the opportunity to taste the best breakfast in Crete every day. Keramos studios is a beautiful traditional guesthouse located at the heart of Zaros, a picturesque traditional village, 45 kilometers from Heraklion at the plain of Mount Psiloritis, blessed with natural water springs and a small lake.

It’s a traditional family guesthouse where the visitor can enjoy the Cretan hospitality and the best breakfast in Crete prepared according to traditional recipes.

Program

Day 1: Arrival

After taking your room and have a little rest, you will be invited to enjoy in a different way of life, to introduce you to real local culture. Visit a traditional Cretan family and enjoy their amazing hospitality. Learn how to make the authentic sarikopita pies in a beautiful yard from the grandma. It is not only for flavor but also for enjoyable. Have a delicious afternoon coffee, raki, tea, and pies with the locals, in a unique Cretan hospitality.

Day 2

The Cretan cuisine is one of the richest and healthiest kitchens in the word. Discover it in four hours cooking lessons in a real Cretan house in Zaros. Learn how Vegera Zaros cook for the family and friends. Maria and Vagelis welcome you to their house to have a tastefully hands-on cooking lessons.

The day you spend with them tasting, cooking, and sharing food around the table, you became part of the family. Fresh vegetables from their garden, virgin olive oil, and lots of Cretan herbs, you will use to cook delicious but simple dishes, to cook again back at your home. Join them and cook gemista, Kolokithokefterdes, dakos, Cretan lasagna, dolmades, halva, soutsoukakia, and many other tasteful Cretan dishes.

Day 3

After breakfast, you will visit the organic farm, where you and your friends or you along with your children will have the option to become farmers, breeders for a day, in a Cretan way. You can discover the properties of the herbs and of the wild edible greens of the Cretan land. You will pick up vegetables from the garden and fruit from the trees.

You will have the chance to pet, to feed, and to get to know from close the animals of the farm, such as sheep, goats, piglets, hens, geese, turkeys, ducks, little rabbits, and the little donkey Louisa. Get to know the production process of fresh Cretan cheese from milking to cheesemaking, always in the traditional way and experientially.

You will use the fresh cheese in order to make little pies with a traditional Cretan crust. You will be cooking some Cretan dishes and make bread in the wooden oven. Then you will relax at the courtyard of the house enjoying Cretan delights, nice home-made raki and wine, and of course your hand-made delicious food, enjoying the natural sounds of the farm and admiring the peaceful landscape.

Day 4

Τoday, you have to say goodbye, but before, you will be visiting one of the best wineries of Crete. You will take a tour of the vineyard and the winery. You will taste the land’s wine and various traditional Cretan mezedes (tapas).
