Walk through the streets of the oldest living city in the world. Stay in a cave dwelling and sip primitivo wine, overlooking the whitewash city of Locorotondo. Travel from Rome into the beautiful Puglia region of southeastern Italy. Visit the Saint Nicolas Cathedral, in the historic center of Bari. Get to know your fellow travelers by sharing a welcome meal at Spops. After, travel to Matera and check into your hotel.
Settle into Italy while enjoying and exploring Matera. At 16:00, take a relaxing Sunday stroll. The guide will take you through I Sassi, the historic center of Matera, the oldest living city in the world. Dine with the group in the cave dwellings of I Sassi.
See and learn about Trulli huts in Alberobello. Visit an oil press, and travel to the masseria (country house) in Pezzo di Greco. Miyoko will share her first demo on pasta making. The group dinner will include live music.
Spend the whole day in the local winery of Cantico dei Calic. Visit the original house, masseria, to get a better idea of how people lived in 1700. The group will work with Miyoko pairing wines and vegan cheeses for a tasting. Enjoy a full lunch, take a tour of the vineyards, and see how wine is made (the perfect Italian day).
Stop in Polignano a Mare to take a boat ride on the Adriatic Sea, the best way to get a real feel of the beautiful coastline. Tour the historic center, stop for lunch and head back to the hotel to relax before to dinner. Miyoko will make mozzarella, ricotta, and vegan pizza, which will never be the same! Pizzas will be paired with beers for a tasting.
The Florence of the South, is what they call the beautiful baroque city of Lecce. Walk and shop on the market street, followed by a cooking lesson with local mammas. Prepare lunch at a historical residence. Following lunch, there will be free time to explore Lecce. Share another great communal dinner back at the hotel.
Spend your last day in a beautiful masseria. Choose between swimming in a pool or bike riding in the countryside. Next, take a formal cooking lesson with Miyoko Schinner. After lunch, you can visit or pack before you end the your cooking dinner.
