During this tour of Sicily, guests will be staying at 4-star, 1st first class European style hotels. You will spend three nights in Palermo, one in Marsala, Catania and Agrigento, three nights in Taormina and two nights in Lipari Island.

Day 1

  • Early morning arrival at Palermo Falcone e Borsellino Airport (PMO)
  • Meet your tour director, Tommaso, and host, Paulo, at arrival terminal
  • Transfer to Palermo center
  • Arrival at hotel and check in
  • 18:00 welcome aperitivo at 12th century Conte Federico Palace
  • Optional dinner at trattoria

Day 2

  • Full day guided tour of Palermo historic center and Monreale, with licensed Palermo guide
  • Visit main monuments of the town: the cathedral, the Palatine Chapel, the Norman palace, the Ballarò market, Monreale’s wonderful Norman cathedral with its precious Byzantine mosaics, and the Benedictine cloister
  • Lunch and dinner on your own

Day 3

  • Depart for morning visit to the beautiful seaside resort of Cefalù. Visit the Norman cathedral and the Medieval Lavatory
  • Optional lunch at panoramic seafood restaurant
  • Afternoon return to Palermo
  • Free time in Palermo and dinner on your own

Day 4

  • Morning departure for Segesta: visit the Doric temple with your tour director, Tommaso
  • Proceed to Erice, a very beautiful panoramic town on the Mediterranean sea, where you will taste the almond pastries of Pasticceria Grammatico
  • Pastry demonstration and light lunch at Pasticceria Grammatico
  • Continue onto Marsala, passing through the Trapani salt mines
  • Arrival and check in at hotel
  • Dinner with wine and olive oil tasting

Day 5

  • Morning departure for Agrigento, with en route stop to savor Sicily’s best gelato
  • Visit the Valley of the Temples with local guide
  • Arrival and check in at hotel
  • Dinner at local trattoria

Day 6

  • Morning departure for Taormina with en route visit to Piazza Armerina. Visit UNESCO World Heritage Site of Villa Romana del Casale
  • Lunch at Agriturismo Savoca
  • Continue to Taormina
  • Arrival and check in at hotel
  • Dinner on your own

Day 7

  • Morning departure for morning excursion to Mount Etna
  • Tour, visit, taste, and light lunch at Benanti Winery
  • After lunch, return to Taormina
  • Dinner on your own

Day 8

  • Day excursion at Siracusa to visit archeological sites: the Greek theater, the Ear of Dionysius, the Cordari caves, and the beautiful island of Ortygia
  • Lunch on your own
  • Pizza and tiramisu demonstration dinner in Taormina

Day 9

  • Morning transfer to port city of Milazzo
  • Mini-cruise to the volcanic Aeolian Islands of Vulcano and Lipari
  • Lunch on your own
  • Check in at Lipari hotel
  • Dinner on your own in Lipari

Day 10

  • Free morning in Lipari
  • 14:00 depart for mini-cruise of the Aeolian islands of Panarea and Stromboli
  • In the evening, admire the “Sciara di Fuoco” (stream of fire) of the island of Stromboli from the sea, while savoring an informal, Aeolian “maccheronata” dinner on mini-cruise
  • 22:00 return to Lipari
  • Transfer to hotel

Day 11

  • Morning departure for Catania via Milazzo, with en route visit to Messina
  • 12:00 admire the cathedral tower clock, with scenes and figures in movement
  • Continue onto Catania
  • Check in at hotel
  • Late afternoon farewell dinner at local trattoria

Day 12

  • Early morning transfer to Catania airport
  • End of tour
