This coast to coast tour is an intense journey, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy, smell, and taste different excellent wines from different areas, different wineries, and with different pairings. You will meet the winemakers to get know their stories, and of course, you will also visit the beautiful spots that Sicily has to offer. This will be an unforgettable experience that will take you through the flavors of the biggest Mediterranean island!
During your holiday, you will stay in a double room in four-star hotels, boutique hotels, or country resorts in Sicily. You will spend two nights in Catania, one night in Ragusa, and two nights in Marsala.
You will arrive in Catania after lunch. Later, you will go on a city visit and transfer to the Barone Scammacca del Murgo, in southeast Etna, the oldest producer of sparkling wine using the classic method in the area. There will be a guided visit around the winery and a welcome dinner with wine tasting.
At the end of the day, you will be transferred to your hotel in the city center of Catania, where you will check in and retire for the night. Today, you will taste Etna white, Etna red, Nerello Mascalese, and sparkling wine (classic method). You will travel approximately 50 kilometers by bus and the transfer time will be around one hour and 30 minutes.
After breakfast, you will go on an off-road excursion and arrive in the Palmento Costanzo winery, northern Etna, where you can find the unique wood Ovum barrels in Sicily. There will be a guided visit and light lunch with paired wine tasting. After lunch, transfer to Taormina for a guided tour through the narrow streets of the village and a visit to the ancient theater. Later, you will be transferred to Cantine Patria Winery, where you will enjoy dinner with a paired wine tasting. Finally, you will return to the hotel for the night. Today, you will taste Etna white, Etna red, Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, sparkling wine (classic method), and sweet wine. You will travel approximately 180 kilometers by 4x4 and bus and the transfer time will be around three hours and 30 minutes.
After breakfast, transfer to Modica for a guided visit of the baroque city, which was named the city of 100 churches and Unesco Heritage Site. Later, you will visit a small family lab where Modica’s particular chocolate is produced. The visit will be followed by a cold demonstration and tasting.
Transfer to the Pachino area to visit an organic and biodynamic Marabino winery and enjoy a light lunch paired with a wine tasting. In the afternoon, transfer to the DOGC of Cerasuolo di Vittoria to visit Maggio / Vigna di Pettineo, an organic winery, where you will enjoy a wine tasting. At the end, transfer to the hotel in Ragusa, where you will have dinner and spend the night. Today, you will taste Nero d’Avola, Nero d’Avola rosè, Moscato di Noto, Cerasuolo di Vittoria, and Frappato. You will travel approximately 85 kilometers by bus and the transfer time will be around one hour and 40 minutes.
After breakfast, depart for the longest transfer to reach western Sicily. The first stop is at Feudo Principi di Butera winery, where, after a stroll through the vineyards and a visit to the winery, you will enjoy a wine tasting and a light lunch. After lunch, you will transfer to Agrigento to visit the Valley of Temples. Following, transfer to the Marsala area, where you will check in at the hotel, have dinner, and retire for the night. Today, you will taste Nero d’Avola, Inzolia, Grillo, and Chardonnay. You will travel approximately 300 kilometers by bus and the transfer time will be around five hours.
Today, breakfast will be served at your hotel before the transfer to your next destination: Erice, a nice medieval village on the mountaintop overlooking Trapani. Following, move to the city center of Trapani, where you will have lunch at your own expense. After lunch, transfer to the Marco de Bartoli winery, a genuine family company, where there will be a special wine tasting of Marsala wine.
In the afternoon, visit the Marsala salt pans and then transfer to the Cantine Fina winery, where you will join a guided visit and farewell dinner on the terrace, which offers a stunning view at the sunset. Later, return to the hotel for the night. Today, you will taste Perricone, Sirah, Zibibbo, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Marsala, and Grillo. You will travel approximately 130 kilometers by bus and the transfer time will be around two hours and 40 minutes.
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and transfer to Falcone - Borsellino Airport (PMO). During the transfer, depending on your flight itinerary, you can stop at the Cusumano Winery, located in the Partinico area. During the visit, you will enjoy the last wine tasting with appetizers. You will travel approximately 120 kilometers by bus and the transfer time will be around one hour and 40 minutes.
During this culinary holiday, guided tours of Taormina, Etna, Modica, the Valley of Temples, Erice, and the Marsala salt pans, as well as visits to eight or nine wineries of the Sicilian territory, are included.
