Portugal is a food and wine paradise; yet it remains more or less a hidden gem. One of the oldest countries in the world, Portugal has fourteen sites recognized by the UNESCO World Heritage Association and this tour will show you some of these beautiful places, always in good company: a great local guide and amazing food and wine to make this trip even more special. By visiting local markets and learning about the Portuguese ingredients, your cooking classes will be a deep immersion into Portuguese delights.

Arrival to Lisbon airport. Transfer to the hotel. Welcome drink and Portuguese tapas. Your guide will welcome you and tell you more about your amazing program for the coming days.
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Evora, Roman Temple and the Bone Chapel. Your cooking class will be with top chef, including with lunch and wine. Afterwards, visit local tapestry artisan. Learn to cook real Portuguese food with a chef that knows all Portuguese cuisine's tricks. This is a cooking class where everyone participates in the process of creating the dish. It starts by choosing some of the seasonal ingredients in the chef's organic vegetable garden, and continues in the kitchen of a 19th century mansion. Arraiolos tapestry is a century-old art that has passed from generation to generation of women. You will see how these traditional rugs are produced, seeing experienced hands create the beautiful designs right in front of you.
Breakfast at the hotel. Day tour of Lisbon including Belm, Mosteiro dos Jeronimos. Your lunch will be in traditional restaurant. Continue visit to Alfama and Old Lisbon. On this evening, there you will participate in a Port tasting with tapas. Lunch is in a great restaurant with typical food and Portuguese wines as well as pastel de Belem. Great Portuguese food and even better wines with your hosts - food and wine specialists, telling you more about the special flavors you are going to experience. To finish, taste a delicious cake that The Guardian featured in its top 20 things to taste in the world. Visit the historical center and some great hidden places that you shouldnt miss, explore Alfama and enjoy a tram ride.
Old trams have been a trademark of Lisbon for decades. Preserved along the years, they offer a unique way of seeing the city and you will get inside one to enjoy an interesting ride. In Alfama, you will discover Old Lisbon, with its labyrinthine streets and clothes hanging in the windows. The Lisbon you will visit this afternoon doesnt feature in travel guides. Premium Port tasting with Portuguese tapas, accompanied by a sommelier. Taste 5 Port wines, including a 20 year old and a vintage, opened with fire, the old ritual that will surprise you. At the table, there will great cheese and pata negra ham, among other classic Portuguese products. Your sommelier will tell you more about each wine and answer all your questions.
After breakfast, visit bidos and its markets. Afterwards have a savory lunch. Then you will enjoy a winery tour and tasting. You will return to Lisbon for a time of relaxation before a fado show and dinner. Start at the old Caldas da Rainha market. Fruit, vegetable, and flowers to be admire. They have all there, but you will make this visit even more special by tasting the local cheeses and olives. Lunch will be in typical restaurant, where you will have tapas and wines.
In an old mansion with centuries of traditions, you will see how the wine is produced and visit the garden, the vineyards, and the cellars. Then, a tasting session with 7 Portuguese wines. Fado night in typical fado house, with live fado show, cod, Portuguese wine, and dessert. Fado is the Portuguese equivalent of soul music and dates back to the 1820s. It is an intense and emotional song that was inscribed in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
After breakfast, visit Sintra and Palcio da Pena. You will enjoy a fish lunch, then visit Cascais. After returning to Lisbon the rest of the evening will remain free. Drive along the beautiful Portuguese coast with great views and wonderful beaches. Then, stop in a small restaurant that remains a secret well kept by the locals. This place has the best fish and you will accompany it with good wine, and a typical dessert. You have the whole evening to enjoy Lisbon. Your guide will be happy to give you some suggestions.
After breakfast, visit Azeitao and Arrabida. Afterwards, you will return to Lisbon and have Portuguese tapas. In Azeitao you will visit a typical tiles artisan where tiles are still created by hand, the traditional way. You can also get involved and paint your own tile. An artisan will show you everything you need to know. Of all the amazing Portuguese cheeses, the Azeitao consistently makes the top three. You will have the opportunity to taste it after seeing how the artisans produce it.Sample a great muscat.
Have lunch in the oldest winery in Portugal and taste their amazing wines and the famous moscatel. (Minimum 6 people - alternative options available). Founded in 1834, this winery has a lot of stories to tell. You will enjoy a guided visit to the cellars and learn more about the stage of the wine process. It is right here that you will have lunch with great local products and, of course, wonderful wine. Drive along the coast and see some of the most spectacular views of Arrabida. Arrabida is a natural reserve with beautiful views and wonderful beaches. Bring your swimming gear if you fancy a dip. You dinner will be composed by typical Portuguese tapas and wine, in a place that mixes tradition with contemporary cuisine.
This is the place where the Portuguese navigators started their journey in the seas. It celebrates their bravery and their amazing discoveries with beautiful monuments. And, of course, the fantastic Tagus river is right there.
Walls and columns built with human bones make this a unique chapel. Created by 16th century monks, these little chapel show you in each corner the transient nature of life. You will visit and know more about its interesting story.
Cascais is a beautiful fishing village where you will learn about the history of pirates and spies. Founded as a fishing village, the years have brought palaces and glamour to this beautiful village. Kings, queens, and aristocrats have fallen in love by Cascais and you will quickly understand why.
UNESCO calls it the city museum. Palaces, convents and medieval buildings tell you 20 centuries of stories. The typical whitewashed houses, the tiles and the iron balconies create a beautiful scenery that influenced the Brazilian architecture in places like Salvador da Bahia.

Both these sites are UNESCO World Heritage monuments. Though it took a century to complete, Mosteiro dos Jeronimos is now the most celebrated monastery in Portugal. There lies the body of Vasco da Gama and you will be amazed by the beauty of the church adjoining this 16th century monastery. You will also see Torre de Belem, which boats the first representation of a rhino in Europe.
Right on top of the Sierra, in the middle of trees and mists, there is a fairy tale palace that will amaze you. It is a UNESCO site and one of the most beautiful examples of romantic architecture in Europe. The gardens are worth a visit in themselves.
The ruins of the forum remain there as a vestige of the roman occupation and date back to the 1 A.D. They are part of the historical center of vora, which UNESCO has recognized as World Heritage.
The UNESCO heritage site of Sintra is a place of romanticism and mysticism. It was once the residence of kings, a place that inspired Lord Byron, who called it the glorious Eden. On your walking tour you will learn about the history of the village and its monuments.
