Tenatu Pilastru

In the Costa Smeralda area near Olbia in the northeast, a delightful converted farm house "agriturismo" Tenatu Pilastru makes for a most enjoyable stay in Sardinia. The family runs a large cattle breeding establishment in the area. Situated in the middle of the beautiful Gallurese countryside amidst the time-weathered rocks, this country hotel is both stylish and comfortable in a real oasis of peace and tranquillity.

The fact that it is approximately a 10-minute drive to the nearest beach does not, in any way, spoil its great location. The swimming pool set below stunning granite rock formations (with their own grottoes) provides a refreshing dip if needed. Lounge chairs are dotted around the pool area so relaxing with a chilled glass of wine and a good book are great options should you not want to join the jet set on Costa Smeralda.

Hotel Catalunya

In the heart of Alghero and at the gateway to the Old Town, Hotel Catalunya is situated just a short walk from the Old Town, the main shopping center, and the beaches at The Lido. It enjoys stunning views over the harbor and the sea. On the penthouse floor of the Hotel Catalunya, the blau will welcome you for breakfast, a light lunch, afternoon tea or evening cocktail.

There are 128 rooms elegantly furnished in warm hues of blue, red, and yellow, and are of six different types including standard room, superior room with sea view, triple room (double bed and single sofa bed), quadruple room (double bed and two single beds); junior suite, and suite. All rooms are equipped with Wi-Fi internet connection.

Regina Margherita

Hotel Regina Margherita is situated in the real heart of Cagliari, in the street which runs down from the anciently fortified quarter of Castello towards the elegant walkway which leads to the port. On stepping out from the hotel, you are met by the most beautiful shops, traditional and authentic bars, and a captivating view of both the city and the sea. Regina Margherita is a modern and welcoming hotel which blends elegance and discretion and fuses design with the tradition of hospitality.

The village was founded around 1102 by the Genoese Doria family, as a fortified port. After the end of the war, Alghero became a popular tourist resort. Alghero’s center has been strongly influenced by Aragonese culture, to which the city owes its architectural, cultural, and linguistic nature. Overnight in Alghero.

Day 5: October 16, 2017 - Archeology park of Peninsula del Sinis and Barumini

The group will depart to Sinis Peninsula. Proceed to Tharros and visit of the archaeological site. Tharros is an ancient city located on the southern shores of the peninsula. The area is now an open air museum and still, excavations are done bringing to light ever more details of the past of this town.

It is one of the most fascinating archeological sites in Sardinia, not only because of the archaeological remains of this once flourishing town, but also because of the unique position overlooking the Bay of Oristano and part of the marine protected area Penisola del Sinis - Isola di Mal di Ventre.

Proceed to Barumini and visit of the archaeological site Su Nuraxi, a special type of defensive structure known as nuraghi - for which no parallel exists anywhere else in the world - developed on the island of Sardinia and inscribed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997. Continue to Cagliari and overnight in Hotel Regina Margherita, a four-star hotel right in the city center.

Day 6: October 17, 2017 - Angel's Gulf of Cagliari and wine tasting

After breakfast, the group will visit Cagliari, the capital of the island. An ancient city with a long history, Cagliari has seen the rule of several civilizations. The old part of the city (called Castello, the castle) lies on top of a hill, with a view of the Gulf of Cagliari (also known as Angel's Gulf). The Castello itinerary begins at the S.Pancrazio (s'Avanzada) entrance or from the Porta dei Leoni, and follows the intricate web of Spanish-influenced streets.

You will visit the national archaeological museum with the complete collection of antique findings in the whole island, from the Neolithic age to the high Middle-age. In the afternoon, drive to a near village and visit a famous winemaker. The story of this winery is basically the story of a family started in the early 1900s in Serdiana, home of farmers, olive groves, and vineyards.

Today, the winery is run by the third generation of the family. A tradition is handed down from parent to child. They will lead you to the discovery their wines and some food specialties from Sardinia, introducing you to the wonderful tastes and flavors which for centuries have arisen from their matching. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.
