Balinese dance is dynamic, angular, and intensely expressive. Balinese dancers express the stories of dance-drama through the bodily gestures including gestures of fingers, hands, head, and eyes.

Lucky visitors will also be able to see a variety of interesting fauna such as Tiger langur, Javan muntjac, wild boar and deer, and monitor lizards.

Enjoy bird watching

The tour can take up to two hours. Bali Barat National Park is a great location to visit because of the Bali Barat National Park Bali endemic birds. The park has the mascot of Bali: Bali Starling birds. There are two locations that can be visited to see the Bali Starling birds in captivity, at Tegal Bunder Resort and Training Center and the release of Bali Starling at Resort Brumbun Bay.

Experience a rindik performance and course

Rindik are twelve-keyed xylophones tuned to a fairly even-tempered scale. The delicate humming sound produced by these instruments conjures up images of breezy rice fields and sunny days, considering that both the instruments and musical repertoire were the creation of early 20th century rice farmers.

Like most other Balinese gamelan instruments, rindik are tuned in pairs, one being tuned slightly higher than the other. This is what produces the characteristic humming sound.

A rindik is played with either two or three beaters, one held in the left hand and one or two in the right. Normally, the left hand carries the melody and the right plays a pattern that creates interlocking configuration between the two right-hand parts. Although it may look effortless, playing rindik is a masterful skill that takes many years to learn.

Hundreds of compositions have been composed for rindik, and each region, even each village in Bali reveals different styles and repertoire. Most of the compositions were inspired by nature and have been named after flowers and animals.

Have a Balinese offering workshop

You might have seen the first offering when you stepped down in Bali at the airport. Offerings play important role. You will find it in almost every Balinese house, in the store, in the market or in the restaurant, and of course also in the villas.

They are colorful and beautiful. The form and the materials can vary based on their functions but they usually consist of flower arrangements, leaves and fruits, all with symbolic values.

Philosophically speaking, the making and giving of "banten" is a selfless act, a kind of self-sacrifice. It is part-meditation, part-escape from the humdrum buzz of everyday life. It is a gift of gratitude and a supplication to the lower spirits that they do not disturb the living. The smoke of the incense carries the sari, the essence of an offering, to heaven.

The staff will be happy to arrange an offering making activity for you. The training gives a basic introduction of offering making and practice.

Take a mangrove tour

The two to three-hour mangrove tour in a motorized-jukung will bring you passing mangroves forest with four different mangrove species. The tour will not only enrich you with knowledge about the mangroves but also the whole organisms involved in the ecosystem.

If you are lucky you will get the chance to see various kind of birds, starfishes, sea urchins, crabs. Some monkeys and storks will probably be around in a certain time and place of the day.

Take a safari tour

The activities of this safari is one of the easiest ways to see wildlife up close in Bali Barat because it uses cars. Visitors could see up close to deer, barking deer, wild boar, macaques, langurs, the Javan grey partridge, and many kinds of birds. This activity is best done during the dry season and is held in the morning or afternoon with a mileage of about four hours.

Visit the West Bali National Park

The Melaya Villas are only a few minute walk to Bali West National Park. The park is an unspoiled beauty lies at the west end of the fabled island of Bali: lush green forests, picturesque mountain range, crystal clear blue water, and vast stretches of pristine beaches, those are what await at the West Bali National Park.

Home to over a hundred species of wildlife, the national park is best known as the sanctuary of the exotic white Bali Starling, an endemic iconic bird of the island of the gods.

Only a small percentage of the total area of the park is open to visitors, and this rule must be respected. There are two key ways to explore the park, either hiking the trails or concentrating on marine aspects.

This holiday includes one complementary massage session. A Balinese massage is usually performed on a massage couch, but can also be performed on a floor mattress. Aromatherapy forms are an important part of a Balinese massage.

The use of scented massage oil can be very therapeutic, with the aroma of the essential oils soothing your mind. The massage oil also helps massage strokes become fluid and free of friction, which makes for a more comfortable treatment.

Expect the therapist to use quite deep pressure during the massage, in order to work on deep, knotted tissue, and muscle damage. Your therapist will also use long, gentle strokes, and kneading to relieve tension and improve circulation in the muscles closer to the surface of the skin. Sessions usually last about an hour.
