Originally an 18th-century villa and now a beautiful 4-star hotel, this historic residence owned by the Papi family retains the Tuscan charm of the original structure, including exposed beams, vaulted ceilings, terra-cotta floors, and antique furniture.

The elegant rooms offer en suite bathrooms, minibar, satellite TV, air conditioning, hair dryers, and the property boasts a fine restaurant, swimming pool, and beautiful teaching kitchen for the hands-on cooking classes. Super luxurious spa suites are also available including a sitting room and a Turkish bath equipped with multi-sensory showers and a large Jacuzzi.

Program

The elegant restaurant and the teaching kitchen where you will have your cooking classes feature refined but classic Italian cuisine, and you will learn to make different types of Tuscan pasta, pizza, appetizers, soups, meat, and desserts.

Daily itinerary

Day 1

Transfer to the hotel, where host and owner David and his staff will welcome you to Tuscany. This evening, enjoy a welcome aperitif and a three-course a la carte welcome dinner with wine.

Day 2

After breakfast, your first hands-on lesson in which you will learn such dishes as pappardelle, gnocchi, pizza, or ravioli. Lunch will follow based on your efforts. This afternoon, you will have a guided tour of nearby Cortona, including the Etruscan Museum and Le Celle Monastery, where Saint Francis spent part of his life. In the evening, you will have time to explore Cortona on your own or to have dinner in town (return transfer to hotel to be paid locally).

Day 3

After breakfast, head to your next class, which might include such traditional dishes as bruschette, pici pasta, bread soup, and Florentine beef. Lunch to follow. This afternoon, there will be free time to relax, or additional excursions can be arranged locally. Dinner will be on your own.

Day 4

After breakfast, depart for Montepulciano, where you will experience a wine tasting at an ancient cellar, followed by a light lunch either at a winery or local trattoria. Next, head to Pienza for a tour of this charming medieval town, and then the Val d'Orcia to see a cheese producer followed by a delicious cheese tasting. Return to the hotel for an a la carte dinner with wine.

Day 5

After breakfast, go to your last class, focussing on a full seasonal menu. Lunch to follow. This afternoon, relax by the pool or arrange an optional excursion - perhaps to Arezzo or Deruta. Dinner will be on your own.

Day 6

After breakfast, head to Assisi. You will have a chance to explore this beautiful city on your own, including the Cathedral of St. Francis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Santa Maria Maggiore, and the charming town center. Time for lunch on your own in Assisi. Return to the hotel in the afternoon for your farewell dinner with wine.

Day 7

Enjoy breakfast, there will be a return transfer to the train station afterward.
