Authentic Italy Cooking Tours in Abruzzo

Experience all that Abruzzo has to offer through this culinary vacation that includes visits to an olive oil mill, fishing trobocco, local farmers market, candy factory and several favorite hilltop towns. The cooking lessons take place in the main kitchen and feature ingredients grown at the agriturismo or nearby local markets.

What to expect

Your hosts lead the hands-on lessons, and the menus are inspired by Marino's time cooking with his grandparents and traveling through the old villages and taverns of the region. The traditional home cooking highlights some of Abruzzo's rural traditions; and you may also take part in making sauces, jams, and liquors. By the end of the week, you will know how to make an Abruzzo inspired three-course meal, as well as traditional pizza and bread.

"Five girlfriends escaped to Tuscany to spend a week in cooking classes with Claudio which were arranged by the International Kitchen. For five days, we spent most mornings cooking a variety of Italian entrees, vegetables and desserts. Claudio was so willing to share his wonderful recipes, techniques and tricks with us. The International Kitchen provided the program design, local guides, logistics and transfers to and from the airport and everything went off exactly as planned. They provided all of the specifics and special sheets outlining "street smart" information. We are already looking at other cooking opportunities with the International Kitchen. If you have a love for travel, cooking, touring, wining, and dining, this is the trip you will love. Claudio will help you make memories for a lifetime!"

"The trip was very well organized, and all aspects of the itinerary fell into place. The drivers who looked after getting us around were very friendly and knowledgeable, and their English was very good. Our accommodations on the Antinori property were very nice, quiet, and clean. The chefs conducting the actual cooking classes were superb. They did not take themselves too seriously, were more than willing to joke around, and had great patience with those of us who were not particularly gifted in cooking. In general, the cooking package was very thorough."

"We had the most wonderful time. Our hosts were a delight. The mix of tripping to seriously important historic towns in the morning with cooking starting in the early evening was an excellent combination."

"They went out of their way to make sure each participant enjoyed the experience and personalized the classes based on the participants wants or needs or level of cooking experience. We cooked lots of dishes and loved the fact that others got to enjoy the meals. We loved the history and stories behind the food."

"There were only the two of us but there was no skimping on service or experience. The guides were companionable, informative, very helpful and generally gave their all - a very important component of our enjoyment. We experienced a wide variety of foods and styles of cooking and presentation, learning a lot about Peru’s history, culture and geography."

"The International Kitchen planned our twelve day trip to Sicily. It was stellar from beginning to end. Working with them was a joy. The staff was professional and personable, listening to our particular wants and providing us with a wonderful itinerary. The company they are associated with in Sicily is of the highest quality and every minute spent with their knowledgeable guides was a pleasure; making the trip special from the markets to the amazing antiquities."
