The Field Retreat is a quiet haven of tranquility and learning. They run different workshops that last from a weekend, a few days to a week at a time. Workshops are different, depending on the time of year. Yoga, Pilates, creative writing, sketching / painting, contact improvisation, and more to come. The Field Retreat is a place to boost your batteries or simply unwind. This weekend retreat is the perfect place to relax, find new inspiration, find yourself, learn a new skill, or just for some peace and quiet.

The Field has accommodation for 10 indoors, and plenty of space for camping if you prefer to sleep under the stars. There are two single rooms and three twin and doubles, with shared bathroom, and one double with an en-suite. There is a separate kitchen shared between all guests, so if you prefer to make your own food, or you don't want a completely vegan week, you will have the opportunity to make some dishes for yourself also.


The yoga, Pilates, and vegan cooking weekend will start on Friday afternoon with a welcome class, some time to look around, and an introduction to vegan food and a vegan dinner. Saturday and Sunday will start with a yoga class, followed by some free time to do as you wish.

There are places to read, meditate, knit, write, or simply soak up the view before lunch.

Pilates will be in the afternoon and if anyone wants to, there'll be time to visit the local village or one of the nearby sites.

If it's hot, you might want to jump in the plunge pool before dinner. Those wanting to learn to cook the delicious vegan food we'll be eating are welcome to join Eric in the kitchen while he's creating.

The retreat will end on Sunday evening for those who need to get away early Monday morning, however a class will be offered for those not leaving till the afternoon.


Pilates is both a physical and mental body-conditioning program, which uses exercise to restore natural, normal movement, and good posture. It increases body awareness, flexibility, strength, tone, co-ordination, stamina, and general health.

As well as those who just want to stay in shape our qualified instructors can help clients during and after pregnancy, with osteoporosis, rehabilitation after surgery, or with old and new injuries. Pilates is recommended by many physiotherapists, osteopaths, general practitioners, and chiropractors.

Vegan food

A vegan diet is one that consists of only plant-derived foods. Vegans don't use or consume any animals or animal products (land or sea animals), including meat, hide, bone, milk, eggs, or honey. So what do vegans eat?You'd be surprised- there is a whole world of exciting foods to be explored. With incredibly diverse flavors made up of fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, seeds, beans, and pulses, not only can all your favorite things, from cookies to pizzas be made suitable for a vegan diet, but your knowledge of all the possibilities for new favorite dishes is sure to expand.

Your creativity and curiosity will grow as you realize the endless combinations that will leave you wanting more. Veganism is not just the same old meat and potatoes. With compassion, environmentalism, sustainability, and health being key reasons to become a vegan, it is a lifestyle that can have a positive effect not only on one's well being, but on the world around us. Animal products are found in places you'd never think they would be. However, as awareness becomes more mainstream, the availability of vegan products such as clothing, accessories, bathroom products, etc. becomes more readily available.

Food served at The Field will be vegan, and you will be able to learn how to make all of the served dishes, should you wish. If you're not ready for the leap to vegan food or you'd rather make your own food, there are of course cooking facilities available for you.

Things to do (optional)

Visit Les Pierres Jaumâtres

These are extraordinary granite stones.A beautiful walk through the forest will find you at the top of Mount Barlot where the stones rest, where you'll also have panoramic views of the Berry and the Valley of Boussac. For many centuries visitors have tried to discover the history of these stones but still to this day the mystery of their origin remains.No entry fee.

Visit Limoges

Limoges is known for its medieval and Renaissance enamels on copper, for its 19th-century porcelain, and for its oak barrels which are used for Cognac production.

Among many other things, it has a beautiful cathedral, a fine arts museum, aquarium, winding cobblestone streets, botanical gardens, 12th century castle ruins, and a resistance museum.

Visit the small villages nearby

There are many small villages nearby, all having beautiful churches, memorials, towers, and gardens. Some are small and sleepy, others have bustling markets.

Arrival by airplane

You have to book tickets to Limoges - Bellegarde Airport (LIG).

Arrival by train

You may also arrive by train in Limoges train station and from here, The Field Retreat can pick you up for an additional cost.
