Traditional Italian Culinary Vacation in Tuscany

Join an all inclusive stay designed for people who like to experience Tuscany participating to the local activities. At Tasty Tuscany, we produce our organic extra virgin olive oil and the olive harvest is for our guests a great chance to be part of one of the most joyful experience of country life in Tuscany.

An authentic Italian experience

Combined with the 3 cooking classes on traditional family kitchen, we give the chance for a unique experience: picking olives and participating to the process of olive pressing, and extra virgin olive oil making. An olive oil tasting class, under the guidance of an expert, is included into the weekly schedule.

What to cook

Cooking on this time of the year is based on truffles, mushrooms, pumpkin, stew, and soups. It's winter cooking and fresh made extra virgin olive oil will be the king in the kitchen. Daily excursions to art cities, medieval towns, farmers markets, complete this authentic experience on real Tuscan life and cooking.

The house, called Podere il Poggione is nestled on top of a hill, surrounded by cypress and olive trees. The beautiful garden invites you to eat "al fresco", to take a nap under the fragrant shade of the wistaria tree. The pool is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the 360 panorama. Four bedrooms and a suite, all with enclosed bathroom, each one with it's own character and beautiful furnitures handed down from generation to generation. Everything combines to create a cozy atmosphere to make you feel completely home. Daily room cleaning and laundry on the property.

Sunday

  • Check-in in the afternoon: our pick up service starts at 15:00
  • Welcoming aperitivo
  • Dinner: minestrone from the garden, sformato with zucchine in crosta, mixed salad, macedonia con gelato

Monday

  • 08:30-09.30: Breakfast
  • 09:30: Experiencing the extra virgin olive oil making by the olive mill in Volterra and lunch at the enoteca Vena di Vino. It is possible to sign for a wine tasting. *The cost is 15 EUR and youll taste 4 great Tuscan wines. Lunch at your charge for around 15 EUR
  • 17:00: Cooking class: a northern dinner composed of spezzatino with mushrooms, fennel spumini with saffron, green beans with cinnamon and onions, and tartufini.

Tuesday

  • 08:30-09:30 : Breakfast
  • 09:30: Visit to the medieval walled town of Certaldo. Several art workshops and the best cappuccino ever!
  • 13:30: Lunch at home: assorted local cheeses with honey and fruit, mixed salad, fruit
  • Relaxation time
  • Olive picking in the orchard
  • 20:00: Dinner: Maltagliati with lentils, Tuscan sausages in hot tomato sauce, mixed salad, tiramis

Wednesday

  • 08:30-09:30 : Breakfast
  • 09:30: Visit to the Baroque monastery of Calci
  • 13:30: Lunch at home: Frittata with seasonal vegetables, mixed salad, fruit
  • Relaxation time
  • 17:00: Cooking class: a southern dinner composed of pasta with cauliflowers and smoked scamorza, chicken breast in range juice and raisins, saut broccoli with garlic and black olives, brutti e buoni with limoncello

Thursday

  • 08:30-09:30 : Breakfast
  • 09:30: Visit to San Gimignano and lunch by the organic wine producer Fattoria San Donato
  • 20:00: Dinner at home: spaghetti pommarola, chicken breast in balsamic vinegar, mixed salad, dessert

Friday

  • 08:30-09:30 : Breakfast
  • 09:30: Visit to the farmers market in Pontedera
  • 13:30: Lunch at home: Friday lunch
  • Free afternoon devoted to relaxation and enjoyment, with activities of the house: a long walk in the wood, an afternoon at the pool, a party with friends. A different way to be together again!
  • 20:00: Tuscan dinner at home: Ribollita, wild boar with olives and mushrooms, celery and walnut salad, brutti e buoni

Saturday

  • 09:30: Departures

Your culinary holiday will be in Palaia, a beautiful walled medieval town in the province of Pisa. The landscape is gorgeous, nature is pure and the small medieval villages, located on top of a hill, are still full of fascination, with their several cafs, a baker, a butcher, a small grocery, few restaurants, and an open market, at least once a week. From there, the beautiful Tuscan panorama: rolling hills, with their profiles marked by the dark shade of the cypresses.

Driving directions

  • Take the highway (superstrada FI-PI-LI) from either Florence or Pisa and get off at the Montopoli Valdarno exit, then follow indications to Palaia.
  • Once on the way to Palaia pass the village of Chiecinella, after around 2 km there is a sign on the left that indicates "Agliati", and a small sign indicating Tasty Tuscany.
  • Take the dusty road (after 200 mt it is paved), drive to the top of the hill and follow the signs with our logo.
  • Pass the church. The road gets narrow.
  • At the next fork, take a left to "Tasty Tuscany".

Arrival by train

If you fly to Milano Malpensa, take the shuttle to Milano Centrale train station.

Take the train to Firenze Santa Maria Novella (remember that the Eurostar, the fastest train, requires a booking), catch the connection direction Pisa and get off at Pontedera station.

A taxi service from the Pontedera train station can be reserved upon request.

If you fly to Rome, take the shuttle to Roma Termini train station.

Take the train to Firenze Santa Maria Novella (remember that the Eurostar, the fastest train, requires a booking for weekend travel), catch the connection direction Pisa and get off at Pontedera station.
