During the holiday, you will stay at two accommodations, Sandpark Place and Oasis Beach Resort.
Sandpark Place is a beautifully decorated spacious five-bedroom house on a secure private gated community of Exclusive Executive Homes. Sandpark Place is a serene, secure, comfortable house and only five minutes’ walk from West Hills Mall, the largest shopping mall in West Africa. Surrounded by well-maintained, manicured lawn, the garden has numerous fruit trees (mango, pawpaw, coconut, avocado, pears, and pineapples) - organic fresh fruits are all available to visitors during their stay!
All bedrooms are air-conditioned, have ceiling fans and are en suite. There are numerous patio, balconies, and outdoor seating spaces. The estate is great for early morning walks and jogging with the cool breeze. It is 10 - 15 minutes' drive from three beaches and a unique go-karting venue.
Surprising Ghana will meet you at the airport for free airport transfer to your guest villa by an English-speaking driver / tour guide. They will settle you into your rooms where you can relax or take a stroll around the beautiful gated estate, enjoying a stroll with the cool evening breeze. Spend the day at the idyllic Bojo Beach Resort and enjoy a welcome dinner in the evening.
After a full breakfast, you will be taken on a private guided Accra city tour to familiarise yourself with the capital city and given information about the best things to do in Accra, visiting old and modern Accra, as well as important historical and cultural sites. You can have lunch by tasting and exploring street food or purchase in local restaurants / chop bars. Arriving at Osu (Oxford Street), you will have a free afternoon exploring the shops, learning to haggle with street vendors, visiting malls and shopping centres as well as unique boutique shops. You will round off the day at one of Osu’s top spot with live music over your evening meal.
You will journey towards Aburi mountains, stopping at Blue Skies (one of Ghana’s premier Fairtrade, organic and fresh fruit producers) to enjoy a site tour where you’ll be amazed to learn how Ghana supplies many of the leading supermarkets in the UK with an amazing variety of exotic, sun-ripened fresh fruits and dairy-free ice creams.
Continuing your journey, you will move to the stunning Aburi Botanical Gardens in the eastern Akwapim Hills situated at 1,200 feet elevation. The serene gardens are an oasis of peace and tranquility from the hustle and bustle of Accra. With its cool and pleasant climate, the magnificent gardens are an important place for scientific research and exploration of Ghana’s agricultural resources. Attractions include the Rock Garden, Bush House, Pergola / Lover’s Lane, ficus tree, and even a retired helicopter! The awe-inspiring palm walk is a fitting entrance of 274-meter entrance to the gardens. After leisurely over lunch, you will continue your day with a drive around the village visiting local open-air markets and the arts and craft market.
Your journey will move you deeper into the mountain communities to the small village of Apirede where you spend the day at Jamaican Village. The centre is unique in Ghana for bringing a taste of Jamaica through its organic farm, vegan restaurant, beekeeping, and produce gardens.
They make authentic Jamaican rum and desserts. You will spend time on the farm before settling down to cooking a fantastic, flavour-filled three-course lunch led by the co-founder Makeda. After lunch, you will spend time at the renowned Cedi Beads Industry making traditional handmade Krobo beads with the local expert and owner, Cedi.
Leaving early for Central Region, you will head for Cape Coast driving past lush landscapes and traditional villages selling their produce and wares along the roadside. You will head for Kakum National Park, the premier rainforest attraction in Ghana. The forest is over 375 square meters of virgin rainforest housing over 550 species of butterflies, 400 bird species, over 100 mammals including forest elephants, and rare bongos.
The world-famous canopy walk comprises of 350-metre suspended bridges over seven tree platforms at a rooftop height of 30 meters above the forest floor. Lunch is available on site. You will move onto the International Stingless Bee Centre, a unique centre which is making remarkable contributions to the national health.
In the evening, you will go to Oasis Beach Resort (or equivalent) for an overnight and dinner.
You will spend another thrilling cooking day with Esi, the owner of Nice and Rich Restaurant, with a session of cooking that includes making local drinks and deserts. After your leisurely lunch, you will continue to Cape Coast Castle, part of the dark history and one of the main slave-trading forts located in the colonial Gold Coast. You will continue your onward journey back to Accra.
You have reached the end of your Ghana tour experience. You will be given help to transfer to the airport for your return flight home, taking with you memories of Ghana - a land of contrasts, colourful, and diverse culinary experiences and beautiful landscapes. For those with later flights, Surprising Ghana can store your luggage and provide ideas for your day (extra costs). Optional activities are available for those with later flights.

Nestled on the mountain peak with a breathtaking panoramic view and salubrious climate. Established in 2007, it's operated by Makeda and Makeda is “a likkle piece of de Island inna de Continent”.
Sandpark Place is just 45 minutes from Kotoka International Airport (ACC) on N1 motorway. It is situated a few minutes from West Hills Mall where there are numerous restaurants, coffee shops, cinema, Shoprite supermarket, and chop bars.
You will arrive on Sunday and all guests will have the opportunity to meet and greet with the host over a welcome dinner and a farewell dinner on the final night of the tour. This culinary tour includes six breakfasts and meals cooked during cooking sessions (on days 3, 4, and 6). There will be a rum tasting session and a vegan cooking session.
Your meals are characterized by fresh seasonal ingredients prepared in the simple, traditional Ghanaian style. You will have the opportunity to learn hands-on cooking Ghanaian cuisines from local experts with the use of fresh local produce and ingredients.
