The villa original name is il Felceto. It is an old farmhouse from the XIX Century, located on a hill at the foot of Città della Pieve between Umbria and Tuscany. The farmhouse was inhabited by a family of Umbrian farmers whose main occupation was cultivating their land, picking up its hard-earned fruits. It has 80 hectares of protected land and produces wines and olive oils. It is surrounded by woods, cultivated fields, olive groves and vineyards.

The villa has 2 apartments and a total of 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. It is fully air-conditioned, has wifi, heated pool, playground, huge gardens and patio.

The Felceto is not far from A1 motorway (exit Fabro). From there you can easily reach the most important cultural and artistic centres of Tuscany and Umbria: Montalcino, Siena, Pienza, Montepulciano, Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Siena, Cortona, Arezzo and many more.

Program

In this slow food cooking school, your green table in Italy will have organic, all-natural humanely raised, and sustainable pesticide-free product. Il Felceto is specialized in using a product that is organic, locally grown, or imported from both domestic and international artisan producers. Il Felceto provides guests with the best selections of organic food. Il Felceto purveyors are mostly local to the Umbrian and Tuscan Land ensuring that the food is always fresh.

Your cooking week is organized by Alina Pinelli, professional wine and olive oil sommelier. She will teach you the essentials of the Italian food and wine culture and basic pasta techniques along with the professional olive oil and wine lessons.

All cooking weeks are tailor-made, based on your wishes and special requests. Menus can be tailored to accommodate gluten-free, food allergies, diet needs, and vegetarian too.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival

Enjoy your new home away from home, the eco infinity swimming pool, and gardens. Explore the medieval village of Città della Pieve and closed villages. Don’t miss the first sunset with a good bottle of wine offered by Il Felceto.

Day 2 - Morning cooking class

Would you like to visit the best hot springs in Italy or would you like to shops at the Prada outlet? You just need to send Il Felceto your dreams and they will do the best for you.

Day 3 - Cooking class number 2

Homemade pasta pici and carbonara or amatriciana, slow cooking techniques with natural herbs and an Italian dessert. %You'll have an evening tour to Umbria or Tuscany. Visit of Assisi and Perugia or Pienza and Montalcino organized by your personal assistant, or do a horse riding ride around the hills and enjoy a day of massages and more.

Day 4 - Departure

The holiday takes place in Il Felceto, Città della Pieve in Perugia. The villa is surrounded by olives and grapes and has beautiful views on Tuscany and Umbria. The estate produce wines and olive oil also.

How to get there

Driving directions

Guests can rent a car (EUROPECAR or AVIS) or hire a private driver from any city in Italy.

  • Exit the Milan-Florence-Rome A1 Autostrada at Chiusi/Chianciano. Turn right at the toll booth and right again, in the direction Chiusi (down town). Continue past Chiusi, driving over the bridge above the railroad tracks.
  • Continue on and past the roundabout, following the sign directions Arezzo, Perugia.
  • After about 500 meters, turn left, direction Arezzo/Perugia drive through the small towns of Po Bandino and Moiano, in the direction of Castiglione del Lago on the Road S.S. n. 71.
  • 1 kilometer after Moiano turn right, signposted Panicale and Paciano and drive up the hill to the village of Paciano.
  • Turn right into the village at the top of the hill, with a small supermarket (CONAD) and bar (BOLDRINI) on your left. You will then pass a restaurant on the right (named Oca Bruciata).
  • At the end of the long city stone wall on the left where the road divides, take the right turn into Via Madonna della Stella. Continue on this road until it divides, about 100 meters further. Keep right following the sign saying Fontanaro or Tartagli or Residence lʼOlivo and continue downhill 100 m further on where you reach a small church on the right.
  • Directly opposite the church is a road with another small Fontanaro sign.
  • Turn left onto this road which descends through olives groves. At the next junction 400 meters later, and just past a pair of wooden gates with a US mail box, turn right.
  • You will find a sign with an arrow, with “Fontanaro” written in yellow. You will find 3 arrow signs indicating Fontanaro on this road.
  • Keep left at the next fork and continue passing the house on the right (La poderina). Just past this house is a shrine at another junction. Keep to the right and continue for another 250 meters where the road ends at the gate for Fontanaro. (There is an arch of Roses that bloom in May and a big cypress tree.)

Arrival by airplane

Perugia Airport (PEG ) is 45 minutes away from Paciano and is connected non-stop by Raynair to Stansted. Alternatively, Fontanaro can be reached through the airport of Firenze (FLR) in 1.45 hour, Roma Fiumicino (FCO) in 2 hours, Pisa (PSA) in 2.15 hours, or Roma Ciampino (CIA) in 2.20 hours.

Arrival by train

The closest is Chiusi Chianciano that is 12 minutes by the villas. The train station is mid way between Roma and Firenze.

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 19% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
