Self Taught (Chef)
After spending most of he day in the kitchen, preparing various dishes, experimenting with different recipes, reading articles appearing on different magazines and weekly newspapers, Shyama was able to enhance her knowledge about cooking and develop her own way of cooking and baking. Because of her years of experience in the kitchen, Shyama is able to provide classes of any type of South Indian or Kerala food in order to satisfy the individual needs of the guests. She is extremely happy to provide culinary training and share her passion for cooking.

Thank you so much for making each moment so beautiful!! I had such a wonderful stay at Silverweed Homestay for one week. I come to Kerala twice a year so I wanted to get a different experience this time and I found it here. It was the right choice; I really enjoyed the mother's cooking. She prepared variety of delicious traditional meals everyday. I didn't expect to have a cooking lesson before I came here but I ended up taking 8 lessons in one week. These mother's recipes would be my life treasure. They always tried to make me comfortable. For example, I said I like fish in typical conversation and she prepared fried-fish for dinner even though they are purely vegetarian. They are punctual and have a warm hospitality, heart, and mind. I was very lucky to be able to come and stay with this lovely family. I highly recommend this place for all generations. I wish Silverweed Homestay a future filled with happiness!
Krishna and his lovely parents were exceptional hosts! We sincerely appreciated their warm hospitality and sense of humor. Krishna's mother won a statewide cooking competition recently and prepared a variety of delicious traditional meals for us. We enjoyed her private cooking class as well! Krishna helped us arrange a house boat tour, private yoga classes, and even cultural events in Kochi. The family is well connected to the community and was readily available to help us with everything, from directions to cutting up mango for us. The room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable, with modern amenities. The home is within easy walking distance to all major attractions in Fort Kochi. We enjoyed chatting with Krishna and his parents and look forward to returning one day. I highly recommend this homestay for anyone looking for superb hospitality and the best food in Kochi!

The Silverweed Homestay was a very pleasant experience. The private home has just two rooms with a large quiet balcony. The couple who own the home were lovely people. It was a bit of a walk to the main touristy part of the town, but enjoyable. The only comment we had was that, although the homemade breakfast was delicious, there wasn’t enough.

A beautifully tended home, secluded from the main streets, Silverweed was an ideal resting spot for our last days in Kerala. Mrs. Shyama Nair and her husband were wonderful hosts, provided excellent breakfast, and helped organize our midday airport transfer.
Silverweed's location is perfect for a family, couple, or solo traveler looking for a quiet resting spot off the main streets of Fort Kochi. Located on the main road with Fort Kochi guesthouses, it is a 10-minute walk into the main tourist streets, but has local restaurants and stores to source any last second needs. The balcony is a pleasant location to hide from the midday sun and enjoy some quiet reading or leisure.
Amenities include an immaculate room, beautifully tended balcony and gardens. TV is Hindi (if you need it). Only Amenities drawback is lack of Wi-Fi and poor Tata network reception on some smartphones in that area. Small areas for improvement when feasible. Having seen other Fort Kochi guest homes, Silverweed is at the forefront of our recommendation list.

I stayed for a week here. Living with a traditional Kerala family brings lots of fun and opportunity to taste local food. The rooms were clean and nice, with a well maintained garden just in front of it. There were extremely helpful hosts; they are always available to make you feel at home! I really enjoyed staying at Silverweed and they have delicious food there!

Wow! We, two young students from Germany, had the honor to be the first guests in Silverweed Homestay with the family of Krishna Kumar!
After the great service of being picked up at the bus station of Fort Cochin, we had a warm welcome of the whole family. Additionally, we had the best lemon-ginger soda in the whole India (we have already spent four weeks here) as a welcome drink and it was, of course, self-made.
Then, we were brought to our room upstairs. Mr. Krishna Kumar opened the door and we could not believe our eyes; it was an absolutely luxurious, clean new room! A mosquito net without a hole, lights next to our bed, a modern interior, and the cleanest bathroom with all comforts (hot water, yeah!) that you may wish.!
If you take a step outside your room, a green balcony makes you feel comfortable. On there, we had a great breakfast with idly, but also pancakes and toasts; a perfect combination of Indian and Western food.
For lunch, we had a traditional Keralan food, which was amazing! Mr. Krishna Kumar's mother, does all by herself, what makes the food special and more authentic.
We had a perfect stay here, every Rupie was worth it! Thank you so much Krishna Kumar! We will come back! Best wishes.
