During your holiday, you will spend two nights in Palermo, two nights in Modica, one night in Marsala, one night in Taormina, and one night in Cefalú. You will be staying at charming 4-star hotels and, in Taormina, you will stay at a luxe hotel.

Day 1: Arrival, Palermo

After your arrival at Palermo Airport (PMO), you will be welcomed by your driver and taken to Palermo to check-in at a first class, 4-star hotel. You will have the night free to dine wherever your senses take you.

Day 2: Western Sicily

After breakfast in your hotel, you will depart to Marsala. On the road to Marsala, stop in a baglio, a typical ancient Sicilian manor for a cooking class. This baglio was recently restored and converted into a charming and exclusive little farm-hotel surrounded by palm trees, olive trees, and vineyards. The chef at the baglio will teach you how to prepare some of the most representative recipes of the culinary tradition of the province of Trapani. All participants will help to prepare the dishes for lunch. Lunch will take place at the baglio.

In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Erice, a nearby medieval town located at the top of the homonym mountain, set 751 meters above sea level and overlooking the whole western region, the Mediterranean sea, and the Egadi Islands. Take a walking visit of the historical center before you check-in at a nice hotel and have dinner on your own.

Meal plan: breakfast and lunch.

Day 3: Agriento, Piazza Armerina, Modica

After having breakfast at your hotel, you will head to Agrigento to visit the beautiful Valley of the Temples, one of the most representative sites of Greek civilization in the Mediterranean area. Visit the Temple of Hercules, the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Castor and Pollux, and the wonderful Temple of Concord. Today, you will have a Sicilian lunch, in the form of a picnic, at the Kolymbetra Park, surrounded by pomegranate, pistachio, orange, and lemon trees.

In the afternoon, you will travel to Piazza Armerina, a small town in the south-central part of the island, and visit the Villa Romana del Casale, a Roman country villa of the third century, famous for its precious mosaics. Then, you will be transferred to check in at a charming hotel near Modica. Tonight, you will enjoy a typical dinner in a traditional restaurant.

Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 4: Modica, Syracusa

Enjoy your breakfast at your hotel, before you visit the baroque town of Modica, where you will taste delicious chocolate, which locally is still manufactured as it was 500 years ago. You will be transferred to Syracusa, a prominent ancient Greek settlement in Italy. Once there, you will visit the archaeological zone, where you will find the Greek Theater, the Roman Amphitheater, the Ear of Dyonisus, and the Latomie. Stroll through the historical center on the Ortigia Island to admire the cathedral, the Aretusa fountain, and the ancient streets.

Afterwards, spend some time shopping, before you are taken to Taormina to check in at the hotel where you will spend the night. The night is free so you can have dinner where you desire.

Meal plan: breakfast.

Day 5: Cooking class, Taormina

Start the morning with breakfast in your hotel. Later, you will meet your host, a professional local chef, and start your cooking experience with a stroll to the open market. Follow your chef and help him select the finest ingredients of the day, which you will use in your cooking class. Walk inside a restaurant for your cooking class and put on your apron, as your host explains the dishes of the day and gives an introduction to the Sicilian cuisine. After cooking your three courses, take a seat in the restaurant and savor your creations with samples of wine.

The afternoon will be free, so you can explore Taormina on your own and have dinner in this beautiful town.

Meal plan: breakfast and lunch.

Day 6: Castelbuono, Cefalù

You will check-out from your hotel after breakfast, when your private transportation will drive to Castelbuono, a nice village 20 minutes away from Cefalù. Once you arrive, have a walking tour of the village, stop in a well-known pastry shop to taste the famous pistachio panettone, and have a lunch based on mushrooms and asparagus in a typical restaurant.

Take a stop in Abbazia Santa Anastasia, a former Benedictine abbey built in the twelfth century, located in the hills high above the north coast. The medieval abbey or abbazia is steeped in a natural landscape, so extraordinary that the present owner, entrepreneur, Francesco Lena, originally purchased the land to turn the estate into a holiday resort. Instead, he began experimenting with international varietals such as Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as the indigenous Nero d’Avola.

Later, continue to Cefalù to check in at your hotel and visit this picturesque medieval town, dominated by the gold-colored cathedral, a Romanesque jewel built by the Norman king Roger II. The interior is decorated with fabulous mosaics, executed in a spectacular array of colors on a gold background. Walk through the small streets of the historical city center; the old roman lavatory can be seen from there as a testimony of the strong ancient Roman presence. Dinner will be on your own.

Meal plan: breakfast and lunch.

Day 7: Polizzi, cooking class, Monreale, Palermo

After breakfast at your hotel, head to Polizzi Generosa, a small medieval town not far from Palermo, with an extraordinary wealth in artwork from the Norman period. Visit Polizzi Generosa, which lies in the Madonie Mountains' Natural Park. This internal region between the Northern Coast and Central Sicily has a wealth of ancient small villages, where many people still live according to the Sicilian traditions.

You will have a half-day cooking lesson at the farmhouse of an authentic Sicilian family, where the host will demonstrate how to prepare homemade pasta and some special sauces. Take lunch with your new friends and, in the afternoon, travel to Monreale, the Norman Mons Regalis. The majestic dome was founded in the 12th century by the Norman king, William II. With 6,340 square meters of policrome and gold mosaics, its access to the Benedictine cloister makes it one of the most magnificent testimonies of the Norman conquest of Sicily.

Continue to Palermo for a sightseeing visit of the highlights of Palermo: the Palatine Chapel, inside the Royal Palace, rich in mosaics and Byzantine decorations; the Cathedral, a sumptuous example of a Norman structure, where imperial and royal tombs can be visited; the Pretoria Fountain, an unusual concentric circles of nymphs and monsters’ figures; and the Martorana church, with its fantastic interior decorated with wonderful golden mosaics and elegant frescos added in the 17th century. Later, check-in at the hotel and have dinner, which will be at your own expense.

Meal plan: breakfast and lunch.

Day 8: Palermo Airport (PMO)

It is time to say goodbye. After breakfast in your hotel, transfer to Palermo Airport (PMO) for your return flight.
