Check-in Time:

Scottish Routes will take care of all your accommodation needs while you are on tour with them. During this trip, you will stay at an en-suite bed and breakfast accommodation in Grantown on Spey. Scottish Routes will inform you where you will be staying after you have booked. You will have the option to stay at a room with one bed to share (for two people) or a room for two people with two single (individual) beds.

Day 1

You will depart Edinburgh and escape the city and head north for a quick photo stop at Edinburgh’s iconic Forth road and rail bridges, before heading into the Kingdom of Fife.

Your whisky pilgrimage begins as you visit Lindores Abbey Distillery. You will learn the whisky-making process here, and get to try some of their delicious Aqua Vitae, as they wait for their whisky to mature.

Your next stop is Stonehaven, where there is time to take a walk around and enjoy a local lunch before heading to Strathisla Distillery for a cask tasting and your chance to see if you will become a master blender, during their blending experience.

Your journey now continues into Grantown-on-Spey. Founded in 1766 by Sir James Grant, Grantown on Spey is your home for the next two nights.

Day 2

Today starts with a drive along the northern bank of the River Spey, followed by a visit to Glenfarclas Distillery. One of the last independent, family-owned distilleries in Scotland where Scottish Routes have arranged a special tour and tasting for you to enjoy!

You can then enjoy a delicious lunch in the restaurant at Glenfiddich Distillery (matched with a wee dram if you like) before continuing to the fascinating Speyside Cooperage.

Here, you will get an insight into the often forgotten art of the cooper - the people responsible for the casks used by the distilleries. The journey continues by heading to Aberlour Distillery where Scottish Routes have arranged a very special tasting to finish your first day exploring Speyside.

Day 3

After a hearty breakfast, it is a short drive to The Glenlivet Distillery to kick off your Wednesday morning. The guides at Glenlivet will be taking you on a private tour before letting you sample some amazing distillery exclusives.

You will now say farewell to Speyside as you return south. Your journey back to Edinburgh takes you over the highest public road in Britain. Take in some of the most spectacular and wild highland scenery the Cairngorm National Park has to offer.

Grantown-on-Spey is found in the center of the Scottish Highlands. It is a traditional Highland town on the River Spey on the northern edge of the Cairngorms National Park. The town is surrounded by mostly community owned ancient woodlands. There are a variety of lovely restaurants to eat in and pubs to enjoy a dram!
