Enjoy a unique and tantalizing holiday and plunge headlong into the fragrant and spicy Georgian culture, stuffed with glorious historical background and walnuts, and decorated by pomegranate and sun. As you will notice when you step foot in this amazing country, an invitation for a meal is never far away. Before long, you will be toasting with your hosts, dancing around, and being fed copious amounts of wine and spirits.
Airport transfer included: Tbilisi International Airport
During this holiday, you will spend six nights in Tbilisi and you can choose between three and four-star hotels.
Georgia is a country with ancient and rich original culture, which goes back as far as millennia. Here, you will find monumental architecture, world-renowned art, book miniatures, rich spiritual and secular literature, colorful dances, jewelry, chasings, and paintings.
The Caucasus Mountains, the highest mountain range in Europe, marks the border between Georgia and Russia. While the highest peak is in Russia, Georgia lays claim to the second highest, Shkara, which at 5,193 meters (17,040 feet), beats Mont Blanc by nearly 400 meters (1,312 feet). These dramatic mountains, with their terrifying hairpin roads and hidden villages cut off at winter, are what legends are made of.
The area around the ski resort of Gudauri makes a good starting point for summer walks through mountain meadows full of flowers. Even in the lowland areas, eagles soar overhead and spectacular views can be had. The mountains in the south and east can offer more gentle walks.
These regions are also suitable for horse riding and mountain biking, as there are numerous mountain roads and tracks. Special Caucasian horses bred for their endurance and beauty, such as the Kabardo and the Tusheti, are the traditional means of transport in this area.
During this holiday, you will spend most of your time in Tbilisi. The city brims with history and has a dramatic setting, with hillsides on both sides of the swift Mtkvari River. Its Old Town, at the narrowest part of the valley, is still redolent of ancient Eurasian crossroads, with winding lanes, old balconies and houses, leafy squares, handsome churches, and countless busy bars and cafés, all overlooked by the 17-centuries-old Nariqala Fortress.
During this holiday, you will have the opportunity to taste delicious Georgian meals. The Chateau Schuchmann's chef is looking forward to treating you to culinary delights from the local region in the new restaurant and teaching you how to prepare khachapuri and pkhali. In the wine cellar, you will find the perfect wine to accompany your meals.
Please book your flight to arrive at Tbilisi International Airport (TBS). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Schuchmann Travel will pick you up from the airport.
