The Monterey Peninsula is famous for its’ noted wineries, fish markets, fresh produce, bakeries, cheese makers and chocolatiers. You and chef Valerie will discuss prior to your arrival, all the fun experiences you want to enjoy.

Oh how about the sights and delicious smells from the restaurants lining the docks of Monterey Bay - or just walking along the wooden wharfs watching the fishboats unload their catch of the day - maybe even watching as a talented captain maneuverers his boat so effortlessly into its’ berth, a real treat for your senses.

You might prefer a trip to Carmel Valley to one of the fabulous wineries for a tasting experience to tell your friends about? And don’t forget lunch. Depending on your appetite, you and your chef will enjoy lunch at one of the fine restaurants in the area. Later, in chef Valerie’s fantastic kitchen, it will be time for the culinary experience you’ll remember for a life time.

In Chef Valerie’s kitchen

If your choice is to spend a fantastic afternoon with Chef Valerie as your cooking coach in her well-equipped kitchen, then be prepared for the perfect culinary experience. You will have discussed the details of what you want to cook well in advance. And remember, Chef Valerie received her culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, so perhaps ask her about that French pastry you always wanted to conquer.

Learn how to make sauces to enhance your cooking and make all your dishes especially flavorful. You can learn how to make classic French sauces and the secrets of reduction sauces.

Pastry doughs

Learn how to make those tricky pastry doughs such as Pate Sablee (tart) or the famous Pate A Choux for yummy chocolate eclairs.

Local Monterey cuisine

Does the word artichoke frighten you? Or what about Indian curries or Mexican tamales? With Chef Valerie as your coach, you will be serving these frightening ingredients to your guest in no time.

Day 1 - Arrival

Check into the Pine Inn. The rest of the evening is yours to enjoy.

Day 2 - Meet Chef Valerie

Weekdays, you'll enjoy the complimentary breakfast at the Pine Inn. On weekends, you'll enjoy breakfast on Savoury Destinations in the Pine Inn Bakery. Then spend your morning relaxing till the pre-determined time to meet Chef Valerie.

Day 3 - Departure Day

After the complimentary breakfast or the bakery breakfast, it’s time to say good-bye till Savoury Destinations see you again soon!

On weekends enjoy the offerings of the on-site bakery with a flaky pastry and a cup of hot coffee. If you’re staying in the village for lunch or dinner, the llFornalo is perfect. Seasonal locally sourced Italian fare is the specialty at this on-site restaurant created by their expert chef and complemented by delicious regional wines. Sit indoors at the counter and watch the activity in the display kitchen or relax indoors and soak in the ocean views.
