Quinta de Lourosa

Quinta de Lourosa isn't just a wine business: It's the fruit of science as well as of passion. Quinta de Lourosa is situated in the vast farmland bowl of the Vinho Verde Rout. With is chapel dating from the 17th century and its farmhouse eaves from the 18th, the estate has been renewed in the last decades.

Thanks to the efforts of Viticulture Professor's Rogério de Castro. The professor's affection for the estate is shared by his family: His wife, children, and grand-children all participate in the farm tasks, making it a home. Assisted by his daughter, the oenologist Joana de Castro, Rogério de Castro made Quinta de Lourosa a place where the regard for nature and for tradition goes along with technical innovation and bold experimentation in winemaking.

Quinta de Lourosa is the ideal place for anyone looking for a couple of days of rest and discovery. Now covering about thirty hectares, Quinta de Lourosa is well known for innovative Lys conduction method, which enables a better sun exposure and the growing of sound, ripe grapes, producing a balanced fresh fragrant wine, in the best tradition of Vinho Verde making.

Along with a new level of scientific thoroughness, Quinta de Lourosa stands by the primacy of environment protection: The plantation of new vineyards is carried out with the uttermost respect for the landscape and the soil. Ancient watering methods have been developed in the use of pesticides. Indeed, the cultivation of vine is also a matter of principles at Quinta de Lourosa.

Only 40 kilometers from Oporto, very easy to access, Quinta de Lourosa is a quiet place removed from the city bustle. It's cozy in winter and pleasurable in spring and summer. It may be enjoyed as a family holiday resort, a weekend hideaway for couples, or a meeting point for business people.

At Quinta, you will find vinery (visit the vinery and know more about the wine production), vineyards (go inside the brilliant green atmosphere and know more about the vineyards and different type of grapes), the church (know the Quinta de Lourosa story and what kind of secrets the church tells them), swimming pool, tennis court. and playground. Here, you can play, relax, and have fun with wonderful sunny days.

The Romanesque of the Tâmega and Sousa

Within the Portuguese Romanesque, the Romanesque architecture of the Tâmega and Sousa has very peculiar and regionalized characteristics. The sculpture shows a very particular personality presenting, almost systematically, vegetal elements. Its uniqueness lies in the themes and techniques. On the capitals and long friezes, the sculpture is very well designed and flat, using the bevel technique, widely used in the Visigothic and Mozarabic Times.

You can visit Guimarães Historic Centre. Portugal was born here, Guimarães was the first king’s house of Portugal. Guimaraes is administratively a county composed of 48 villages that fall within an area of 242.32-kilometer square, with about 160,000 inhabitants. It is situated north-west of Portugal and is distant approximately 350 kilometers from the capital, Lisbon and about 50 kilometers from the city of Porto.
