Join us for our second New Zealand tour in February 2016. Enjoy fabulous hospitality, our sophisticated, clean cuisine and some of the best wines in the world. New Zealand is Peta's home and she can't wait to show you some of the best food and wine in the world. Youll surely enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime culinary adventure.
You will spend the first 3 nights at Black Barn Vineyards in Hawkes Bay. Then, you will stay at Hotel DeBrett in Auckland.
Our tour commences in the Hawkes Bay where we spend 3 nights at the sumptuous Poplars accommodation at Black Barn and kick off the week with a hands-on welcome dinner cooked by Peta.
The following day we visit the famous Hawkes Bay farmers market where we learn to make black pudding and Peta will whip up lunch from ingredients of your choice. That afternoon we visit Outfoxed for an authentic kiwi farm experience, followed by dinner of our iconic spit roast lamb and pavlova.
We spend our remaining time in the Hawkes Bay cycling around the vineyards, stopping of course for lunch and some tastings along the way. We also visit Maori tribal lands at Hakikino, taste olive oil at The Village Press, a family run business and New Zealand's largest producer of olive oil, and enjoy a final night candle lit dinner down by the river.
On the afternoon of day 4 we fly to Auckland, the multicultural (European, Polynesian and Asian) restaurant capital of New Zealand, and check in to the luxurious Hotel DeBrett. For our first evening we have an Asian inspired cooking demonstration and dinner.
On day 5 we enjoy a coastal volcanic walk, followed by a masterclass and lunch with Michael Meredith, 2015 Lewisham Award outstanding chef, of Meredith's.
The next day we set sail on the beautiful Waitemata harbor in a waka (traditional Maori canoe) and have a hangi (Maori feast) lunch. We also learn all about the nuances of coffee making and drinking, a national pass time in New Zealand, have a delicious cheese tasting and fit in a masterclass and lunch with the multi-award winning Simon Wright of The French Cafe.
Our final night involves a fabulous Cook Island feast with singing and dancing.
