The Alaya Resort Jembawan is a boutique-style wellness retreat located in the heart of Ubud. This 37-room property offers lifestyle programs and acts as a healing sanctuary for personal renewal with affordable solutions to many of the issues caused by trying to exist in today’s fast paced world.

The Alaya is a place where guests are encouraged to slow down, eat nutritious food, and return to the basics of well-being. Here, you will be able to enjoy many resort amenities such as meditation, yoga, and Balinese dancing classes, as well as Balinese ornament workshops, cooking classes, shopping areas, and more in one of the most complete resorts of Ubud. You can also stay at the Puri Gangga Resort, which offers similar facilities, and whose location is also at the heart of Bali.


Day 1: Arrival

You will arrive at Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS), also known as Denpassar International Airport. There, you will meet your local guide, who will directly transfer you to the hotel for your accommodation at Alaya Resort Jembawan.

Day 2: Sebatu Temple and Kintamani

On this day, lunch and dinner will be at your own arrangement and, during the morning, you will have breakfast at the hotel. This morning, a yoga and meditation session will take place from 07:15 to 08:15. The day will continue with a cleansing purification or Melukat at the Sebatu Temple. This Balinese Hindu ceremony is believed to purify and cleanse the spiritual mind and soul. The understanding of spiritual purification is the process to eliminate the influence of negativity in man in order to move on to the future life.

After the ceremony, you will head to Kintamani and, along the road, you will see the beautiful rice terraces of Tegalalang. The absolute highlight of the tour will be on the top of the ridge of Mount Batur, which opens up with a view of the 7.5 kilometer volcano crater. On the way back to the hotel, you will make a short visit to Goa Gajah temple near Ubud. After, you will head back to your hotel, either at Puri Gangga or Alaya Resort Jembawan. The rest of the day will be free at leisure.

Day 3: Ubud and East Bali

On this day, your breakfast will be served at the hotel, while lunch and dinner will be at own arrangement while. Afterwards, you will have your morning yoga meditation from 07:15 to 08:15. When your session is over, you will head east to see the Kerta Gosa, or Hall of Justice, built in the XVIII century in Klungkung. This place is beautifully laid out within a moat and provides an exquisite example of the Klungkung style of painting and architecture, which can be seen in their ceiling murals.

You will continue towards Kusamba, a fisherman village that also engages in salt making. Here, you will also see a colorful outrigger lined up along the black sand shores. The coastal road with full view to Nusa Penida will lead you to Goa Lawah, whose name means "the bat cave". This cave, whose walls vibrate with thousands of bats, is considered as a sacred place and a temple; and you will see how its surrounding shrines protect the entrance.

Afterwards, you will visit Taman Tirta Gangga, also known as "he water palace, whose swimming pools and ornamental ponds serve as a fascinating reminder of the Balinese rajah's old days. The last stop of the day will be at Tenganan, an original Balinese village, stronghold of ancient traditions. You will see the local women weave the famous flaming cloth, Kamben Geringsing, which is believed to have the power to immunize the wearer against evil. In the late afternoon, you will return to your accommodation in Ubud.

Day 4: Ubud surroundings

Today, your breakfast will take place at the hotel. Afterwards, you will join the morning yoga and meditation session from 07:15 to 08:15. Later on, you will head to downtown Ubud to have a two-hour workshop at Agung Rai Museum for gamelan or you will head to the dance program. You will learn about the history of gamelan in the village context, and will witness a demonstration by master musicians. During this demonstration, you will play the instrument and learn to play a short piece.

Afterwards, you will visit a local art gallery, which has an extensive collection of paintings by Balinese, Indonesian, and foreign artists of the classic Balinese and contemporary styles. At the end of the day, you will be transported to your hotel and the rest of the day is free at leisure. Lunch and dinner will be at own arrangement.

Day 5: Cooking class

Today, you will share the unique guidance of a Balinese chef, from whom you will learn how to prepare local delicious food. The cooking class venue is inside the hotel area and has a Balinese traditional style compound near the poolside area.

The morning session starts at 07:00 with a visit to the Tegalalang traditional market that will last approximately one hour. Here, you will find Balinese spices and vegetables displayed and sold in a traditional way. At 08:30, you will head back to the hotel and continue with breakfast at the restaurant followed by a yoga lesson. You will have to be at the cooking venue at 11:00 and the chef will share his secret dishes recipes, followed by a memorable lunch.

In the late afternoon, you will visit the Ubud palace, also known as Puri Saren Agung, home of the royal family that ruled Ubud from the late 1800s until 1917. You will continue your wonderful evening with the Legong dance performance at the open stage of the palace. Dancing classes are scheduled daily from 19:00 to 21:00 and there are various categories of dance from Monday to Sunday. During this day, dinner will be at own arrangement and accommodation will take place either at Puri Gangga or at Alaya Resort Jembawan.

Day 6: Bedgul and Tanah Lot

Breakfast will be served at the hotel, as well as your morning yoga session. On this day, you will continue exploring the western part of Bali. You will start with a visit to Pura Taman Ayun, founded by the King of Mengwi in the seventeenth century. This place has three ascending levels of spacious courtyards containing rows of shrines and pavilions, as well as it is surrounded by a wide moat.

Next stop will be Bedugul, an attractive mountain resort located 850 meters above sea level. Afterwards, you will visit Ulun Danu temple on Lake Bratan, dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of the waters. You will then return to South Bali, and at the end of the route, you will stop at Candi Kuning market to shop for local fruit, such as strawberries, as well as you will make a quick visit to the flower market with its exotic wild orchids and roses.

The day's final stop will be Tanah Lot Temple. This is possibly the best known temple in Bali. For the Balinese, Tanah Lot is one of the most important and venerated sea temples. Afterwards, you will head back to Ubud. Today, lunch and dinner will be at your own arrangement and the accommodation will take place either at Puri Gangga or Alaya Resort Jembawan.

Day 7: Ubud and departure

Today, you will enjoy breakfast at the hotel and you will have some free time during the morning. In the afternoon, at the appropriate time, Perillo's Learning Journeys' staff will pick you up either from your hotel in Ubud or your hotel extension to arrive at Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS). On this day, lunch and dinner will be at your own arrangement.
