This is a world of homemade and evocative flavors. Mallín Colorado Ecolodge offers this culinary program where you can enjoy the great kitchen and skills of the hostess, and you will have the possibility to visit our greenhouse with vegetables and aromatic herbs of the area. You will learn recipes of kneaded bread, how to prepare a lamb to the stick in the "quincho", besides different preparations of Patagonian salmon to the fine herbs and delicious desserts of colony times.

During this holiday, you will stay in Mallin Colorado Ecolodge, located on lake General Carrera, very close to the marble caves. 20 years of experience attending the discerning traveler from the whole world make Mallin Colorado Ecolodge a very special place to visit in Chile.

Mallín Colorado Ecolodge offers a lodging in cabins and rooms with excellent view to the great General Carrera lake, in a private environment and harmonious with the landscape. It is built on a large esplanade in height, surrounded by a neat park of native trees with a wide view of the lake and mountains. Mallín Colorado can accommodate a total of 18 people.

The cabins have a vitrified parquet floor, the beds have a box spring mattress, natural pen down, wood stoves, and huge windows with extraordinary views over Lake General Carrera. On an area of ​​12 hectares located high above Lake General Carrera, Mallín Colorado has distributed its four cabins in a very independent way one from the other, guaranteeing privacy and exclusivity for those seeking to get away from mass tourism and enjoy silence and peace of the most rugged and virgin landscape.

Being in the cabin appreciating the spectacular views, it will seem the best way to rest. In the cabin, you will also find a white pure cotton robe, a pair of slippers to get up, two chocolates on his nightstand, and amenities in the bathroom.


Day 1: Balmaceda - Lake General Carrera

After arriving at the airport, you will begin your journey through the Austral Highway to the south, the unpaved stretch of the Pan American Highway. You will cross rivers, lakes, and valleys surrounded by mountains and virgin forest. Your destination is General Carrera Lake, one of the world's largest freshwater reserves. A delicious welcome dinner awaits you.

Day 2: Collection of wild mushrooms in Mallín Colorado and visit to the greenhouse

After having your breakfast, you will go trekking or horseback riding through the Mallín Colorado forest, between lengas, coigues, and ñirres, with extraordinary views over Lake General Carrera.

You will have lunch and visit the garden of vegetables and herbs with the hostess afterward. That day, you will learn all about the wild mushrooms growing in the native forest of Mallin Colorado and prepare a mushroom soup for dinner. Before going to the dining room, you are invited to prepare the pisco sour in the kitchen.

Day 3: Marble Cathedrals, kneaded bread, and Patagonian salmon

After having your breakfast, you will visit the marble cathedrals. Before arriving at Puerto Tranquilo, you will board a boat to reach the "Marble Cathedrals", a peninsula of marble caverns of impressive rock formation due to the erosion caused by the millenary tapping of the water.

You will enter the caverns in the boat to appreciate the spectacular combination of colors of the water with the white of the rock. You will have lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, there will be classes on how the bread is made in Patagonia and you will learn how to prepare a salmon in the fine herbs in a wood-burning stove. You will dine at the club house, lodging at Mallín Colorado Ecolodge.

Day 4: Baker River and afternoon of desserts, lamb roast to the stick

After breakfast, there is excursion to the south, where you will know the birth of the river Baker and you will reach the confluence with the river Neff. You will return to lunch and enjoy an exquisite afternoon of cooking, learning to make different desserts of old family recipes of the owner of the lodge.

At 5:00 p.m., the preparation of the lamb roast will begin in the "quincho" of the lodge, for five hours until ready to eat it. There is farewell lamb roast, variety of desserts and lodging in Mallín Colorado Ecolodge.

Day 5: Return to Balmaceda Airport

After breakfast, and depending on the time of your flight, you will return by the Carretera Austral towards the north to reach Balmaceda at the time to take your flight. They will travel with rich gourmet sandwiches that you prepare in Mallin Colorado.

During this holiday, you will be served with full board meals, one drink per meal, as well as includes lamb roast.
