Day 2: Athens walking tour

Breakfast will take place in your hotel and will energize you for a walking tour in Athens; the best way to see this city, feel its vibes, and meet locals. You will start the day by climbing the Acropolis hill, where you will enjoy a guided tour to the Parthenon, the Erectheion, and the surrounding monuments for approximately one hour and 30 minutes. Afterwards, you will descend to the Acropolis Museum and receive a tour to its fascinating exhibitions. This tour will also take one hour and thirty minutes.

Your exploration will go on by crossing Andrianou Street, the most distinctive street of Plaka neighborhood, a place full of sophisticated shops and souvenirs. Later, you will reach the imposing Roman Agora and the Tower of the Winds, and a little further down, you will have the chance to admire the Library of Hadrian and the vivid life of Monastiraki Square, a place full of people and colors.

Then, you will stop for an optional refreshing lunch break with traditional Greek street food at a nearby restaurant, followed by a walk through Athinas and Evripidou Streets, the surrounding streets of Athens Central Market. Little shops will be all around you offering herbs, delicacies, nuts, and household items, among others.

After having crossed this fascinating commercial triangle, you will arrive at Panepistimiou Street, where you will be impressed by a trilogy of neoclassical buildings, such as the National Library, the Academy, and the University of Athens. If you walk further down, you will reach Syntagma Square, the most famous square of the city. There, you will take some time to watch the valiant Evzones in front of the building of the Greek Parliament.

Having left Syntagma Square behind you, you will stroll through the lush green oasis of the National Gardens. While this will be an ideal place to relax away from the city noise, your refreshing walk will lead you to the extraordinary Panathenaic Stadium, where the first modern Olympic Games took place.

If you continue for a little while, you will reach the impressive neoclassical building of Zappeion Hall before being amazed by the size of the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Hadrian Arch. Your walk will come to an end in front of the Lycicrates monument in Plaka, at a very close distance to the Acropolis Metro Station.

By this time, you will have seen the best of Athens in a walk that includes everything, such as history, architecture, and ancient and modern city life. The evening will be for resting, before a representative meets you at the hotel for a night out in Athens. This night, you will meet some of the most prestigious bars and clubs of the city, such as the molecular mixology bar concept, a wine bar with the list of the best Greek wines. Finally, you will go back to the hotel for an overnight rest.

Day 5: Santorini foodie tour

This six-hour tour will take you to a tour around the island where you will get a chance to explore the flavors of Santorini, where even today, all of the plants cultivated on the island struggle to survive while facing a volcanic soil poor in organic matter, an anhydrous land, strong winds and during the summer high temperatures.

That is why the fruits of Santorini have concentrated flavors but low yield. The agricultural products of the island which have survived under dire conditions include grapes (wine), cherry tomatoes, fava (yellow split peas), white eggplants, round zucchini, capers, etc. With this tour you will visit two renowned, awarded wineries, taste the major types of Santorini wines and learn about the wine history of the island, the native grapes and the traditional and modern winemaking methods!

Walk in an old, phylloxera-free vineyard and learn about the ancient vine training method and the Santorini’s distinctive terroir. Visit a local farm, taste the major agricultural products of the island, and become familiar with the food treasures of Santorini. Visit the Santorini Donkey brewery and taste fresh, unfiltered, and unpasteurized beers!

Day 6: Santorini volcanic wine tales

Starting from the serene village of Megalochori where historical mansions and old traditional houses unfold through pirate hideaways next to wine canvas. You will visit impressive churches such as the church of Aghia (Saint) Paraskevi known for its unusual yellow bell tower and the picturesque little church of Aghia (Saint) Fotini the Samaritan, dug into the hard volcanic rock. This tour will take you to the famous “Rock Heart” formation for photos to be then concluded at the traditional Arvanitis Canava for a wine tasting.
