During this tour, you will be staying in various accommodations in a shared double room. The hotels provided consist of three stars, four stars, or five stars depending on your choice.
Welcome in Athens. On arrival, you will be met by Oxygen Food Tours’ assistant and transfer to your hotel. Detailed information will be presented to you about all art and music events taking place in Athens during your stay, as well as a list of non-touristic restaurants for the best taste of Athens. Everything will be arranged by the representatives.
Morning and a walking tour of Athens starts. This is the best way to see Athens, feel the vibes, and meet the locals! You will start the day by climbing the Acropolis Hill where you will enjoy a guided tour to Parthenon, the Erectheion, and the surrounding monuments which will take one hour and 30 minutes approximately. You will then descend to Acropolis Museum, in order to have a tour to its fascinating exhibitions which will take one hour and 30 minutes approximately.
The exploration will continue on by crossing Andrianou Street, the most distinctive street of Plaka neighborhood, full of sophisticated shops, and souvenirs. You will then reach the imposing Roman Agora and the Tower of the Winds. A little further down, you will admire the Library of Hadrian and the vivid life of Monastiraki Square, a place full of people and colors.
You will stop for a refreshing lunch break (optional) with traditional Greek street food at a restaurant nearby. You will then continue the walkthrough Athinas and Evripidou Streets, the surrounding streets of Athens Central Market. Little shops will be all around you, selling herbs, delicacies, nuts, household items, and many more.
After having crossed this fascinating commercial triangle, you will end up at Panepistimiou Street, where you will marvel at the impressive trilogy of neoclassical buildings which are the National Library, the Academy, and the University of Athens. If you keep walking, you will soon reach Syntagma Square, the most famous square of the city. You will take some time to watch the valiant Evzones in front of the building of the Greek Parliament.
Having left Syntagma Square behind you, you will stroll through the lush green oasis of the National Gardens for a while, an ideal place to relax away from the city noise. The refreshing walk will lead you to the extraordinary Panathenaic Stadium, where the first modern Olympic Games took place. If you continue for a little while, you will reach the Zappeion Hall, an impressive neoclassical building.
You will feel amazed by the size of the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Hadrian Arch. The walk will come to an end in front of the Lycicrates monument in Plaka, in a very close distance to the Acropolis Metro Station. By the time you say goodbye, you will have seen the best of Athens in a walk that includes everything, history, architecture, ancient, and modern city life.
The representative will meet at your hotel in Athens and departure to visit the Pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi. Dating back to the sixth century BC was indeed the religious center and symbol of unity of the ancient Greek world. While at the site, visit the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo, and the museum. Continue to Village of Arachova and check-in at your mountain resort hotel.
Taking a leisure walk, discover the traditional character of the village through its narrow cobblestone streets. You will be provided with many options for a dinner in one of the restaurants serving homemade cooking using local products. Stay up and enjoy the village’s bustling nightlife that will be an experience you will remember forever.
After a morning coffee and relaxation with spectacular view of the mountains, you will visit a cheese factory to discover the production of “Formaela”. Local unique solid texture, spicy, and rich aroma cheese. Continue to the prefecture’s capital, Livadia, lies in a gorge where the springs of Erkina flow, against a backdrop of a 14th-century medieval castle that’s surprisingly well preserved. The castle is on the hill of Profitis Ilias, where it is said the Oracle of Zeus Trofonios was.
Then, continue to Muses Estate winery to explore the Valley of the Muses and the main attractions. You will have a taste of the climate and the history of the place where the vines grow and the new plantings and the old Mouhtaro vines. Continue to the cellar, the best place to talk about the history of the estate and learn more about production and ageing of wines.
Then, in tasting room, you will taste all the labels that are now in the market along with past vintages as well as some new and experimental wines. During the wine tasting, the wines are paired with local products, like krasotiri (wine cheese), which is matured in Mouhtaro lees. Afterwards, you will return to Athens and stay overnight at hotel in Athens.
You will be met by the assistant at your hotel for your transfer to departure flight.
