Day 1: Arrival - Transfer in Beaune

Pick up in Beaune Train Station. Transfer to your centrally located hotel and check-in.

Depending on arrival time, discover this beautiful small town of France. This charming historic town is a true delight for architecture and wine lovers. Beaune can be easily explored by foot since most of the main attractions are located within the walls. Reach Place Carnot and the main pedestrian areas that are dotted with restaurants, wine bars, and shops. Spend the night at your hotel.

Day 2: Half-day discovery

Breakfast at your hotel. At 2 p.m., pick up at the tourist office of Beaune.

Walking tour of Beaune and its hospices

A typical example of Burgundy flamboyant gothic style, this former hospital founded in 1443 by the chancellor Nicolas Rolin and his wife Guigone de Salins is the testimony of the Flemish influence on the duchy of Burgundy. As far as architecture, it is worldwide famous for its colorful polychromatic glazed tile roofs.

The Last Judgment triptych painting by Flemish painter Rogier Van Der Weyden is the highlight of the visit. You will tour the Salle des Pôvres (where the sick ones were looked after), the kitchens, the pharmacy and other rooms exhibiting artifacts and tapestries.

At 4 p.m., enjoy wine tasting at a local winemaker. Experience a unique wine tasting session within Beaune. You will be warmly welcomed for a visit to the facilities, cellar, and winery. Explanations are clear and adapted to each person’s level of knowledge; the visit is fun and informative. You will round things off with a commented tasting of different appellations.

At 5.30 p.m. the tour ends at the Tourist Office of Beaune.

Day 3: Burgundy full-day wine tour

Breakfast at your hotel. At 9.30 a.m., pick up at Beaune Tourist Office.

Take in the stunning scenery as you cruise through the beautiful villages of Côte de Beaune: Pommard, Volnay, and Meursault, and through the Grands crus roads, via Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. Sightseeing of the famous Bâtard-Montrachet, Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and Chevalier-Montrachet.

Welcome to the spirit of France. While you are in the vineyards the guide will give you a clear and entertaining presentation of the difference between the appellations “Village, 1er Cru and Grand Crus”. Here the Chardonnay is at its best!

Tour and wine tasting in a local domaine in Beaune

This Domaine is an important vineyard in the Côte de Beaune. The wine cellars and the winery are located in Beaune, in the Place Saint-Jacques. Its owner, Yvonnick, has extensive experience in the wine world, having worked for twenty years in sales of Burgundy wines on the French market.

The area offers a wide range of different wines, classified under various names, including several 1st Crus and Grand Crus, whether white or red. He produces different appellations like Saint-Aubin, Meursault 1er Cru “Les Charmes” and Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru.

Route des Grands Crus

Sightseeing along the Grands Crus road and stop at the famous Romanée-Conti. Considered as the most prestigious name of Burgundy, this plot of 1, 8 hectares produces the most expensive wine in the world. Picturesque drive along the Côte de Nuits through the villages of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, and Vougeot. Discover the “Champs-Elysées” of Burgundy. The Ophorus team will take advantage of being in those prestigious vineyards to explain the terroir and the different steps needed along the year to harvest the best Pinot Noir possible. Guided tour of the Clos Vougeot

Founded in 1098 by monks, the vineyard of Clos de Vougeot covers 50 hectares. The castle houses the brotherhood of the knights of the tastevin. Its wines are ones of the most famous in Burgundy with a Grand Crus: Le Clos Vougeot. Today the vineyard is divided between 80 owners.

Tour and wine tasting in a local domain around Nuits-Saint-Georges

Visit the cellar and share an authentic moment with the winemaker around a tasting of his best Pinot Noir wines.

At 5.30 p.m., return to Beaune and spend the night at your hotel.

Day 4: Beaune

Breakfast at your hotel and return transfer to the train station of Beaune. End of services.

If wine isn´t your priority, Burgundy offers a multitude of sightseeing options, such as the Palace of the Dukes, the gothic Cathedral of Saint Bénigne, the Romanesque churches of Burgundy, including the remarkable Abbaye de Vézelay (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and Les Hospices de Beaune, a medieval hospital that was in use until the 20th century and now functions as a museum of Flemish art.
