“We were somewhere on the back streets of Old Delhi. We had been wandering all day, exploring the sites, a little lost and starving! There were little street food stalls everywhere but being new to the city we were trying to be cautious about where we ate. Suddenly we noticed what appeared to be some sort of fast food style chain restaurant absolutely full of locals. We secured a place at the last available table and ordered a paneer tikka set. I don’t know if it was because we were so tired and hungry but I had never tasted paneer tikka like this before or since! The marinade was perfect and there was a beautiful slight smoky flavor I can remember still all these years later. We ate slowly. After a morning cruising in the open speedboat and exploring hidden sea caves, you stop on the small island of a Biševo for a long leisurely lunch at Porto. I was in a group of three, so we decided to split a fresh fish we selected from a case. While I do love special sauces and creatively prepared dishes, there was something truly special in the simplicity of the fish’s light preparation: grilled with olive oil, salt, and pepper. The dish allowed the fish to speak for itself, one could say, without any additional ingredients to mask its true flavor. The perfectly flaky and juicy white fish fell right off the bones. Yum! “Asking a food blogger their favorite meal is difficult, near impossible. It’s like asking a parent about their favorite child. Sure you probably have one but saying it would be unfair to the others.
So I’ll tell you about the best meal that I’ve had recently. I was visiting Pisa, Italy and I found a small charcuterie shop. The shop was so small that it only seats six people.
I stood at the counter trying to make a decision. The guy could tell I was obviously lost. “You like meats? You like cheeses? Ok, I’ll make something for you.”
Seating is so limited it was necessary for me to sit outside in the park, which was perfect. I grabbed a glass of wine and waited.
Soon the same waiter approached with a huge cutting board piled high with freshly sliced local products (also known as antipasti locali, starters made from local ingredients – Ed.).

“We’ve had many memorable dishes during our travels, but if there’s a preparation that often comes to mind when thinking of something outstanding, that is Ceviche. This Peruvian seafood recipe tends to be hard to find outside Latin America and, whenever we've had the chance to eat it outside the of Latin lands, it simply doesn't taste the same. While ceviche can be made with a variety of seafood, we love the one that mixes fresh fish and other ocean creatures such as octopus, squid, prawns, and shellfish. The ingredients are served raw, in a citrusy marinade made with abundant lemon juice and spices. Simple sides of boiled sweet potato and crispy corn make ceviche extra special. “Before I went to Indonesia, I was very excited about several things like the beaches and the culture but when I got there it was the food that really blew me away. Some of the best meals I’ve ever had were in Bali, and if I had to pick one dish from all that Balinese Cuisine offers, I’d go for the duck curry.
Balinese duck curry is a rich and flavorful dish: making it involves several hours of cooking and more spices than you ever thought possible (lesser galangal anyone?) but the result is perfection. This isn’t like any curry you’ve had before and by the end of the cooking process, the duck meat literally falls apart in your mouth. Top it off with some fried shallots for the finishing touches.

“There's nothing that warms you up like a stick-to-your-ribs stew, and the Danes have perfected the art of this hearty holiday classic. On a blustery winter day in Copenhagen, we made our way to the street food market, Paper Island. Wandering past stalls selling food from all over the globe, our eyes widened at each new treat - Roast duck! Empanadas! A creme brulee'd donut! However, we were tantalized by a stall selling only two kinds of stew that was offering samples. (I'm a sucker for a sample). It was love at first bite! The stew was made from rich, hearty venison, native to a nearby forest and ethically hunted. It was served with crusty Danish rye bread and topped with bright, juicy fresh currants. This stew embodied the Danish concept of Hygge. We left with warm bellies and that happy, fuzzy feeling you get around Christmastime.” - Lia from Practical Wanderlust

Pelmeenid in Tallinn, Estonia
“What is Pelmeenid you may ask? Lets put it this way; it is rather similar to Italy's ravioli but not quite. It is a dumpling filled with minced meat, served either boiled or deep fried, and sour cream is a typical condiment with the whole dish. I know most Baltic countries have a version of it, but Russia is where it originated.
I know tons of Estonians who stock up on Pelmeenid in their freezers, and I can't blame them! I ate my first Pelmeenid when my partner and I visited his hometown of Tabasalu in Estonia and had a short pitstop at this one restaurant (it no longer exist) and ordered this said dish. I was in heaven!
