Welcome to Portugal! This wine tasting holiday is your dream wine travel that takes you to a romantic tour around the region and discover the best wine cellars and farms. It’s every destination of fine wine lovers around the world. Explore the colorful landscape where vineyards have their own special roles to play and immerse yourself in its unique culture as you step into medieval villages.
You will stay in a four-star bed and breakfast type of accommodation at Vila Gale Hotels for six nights per itinerary. Accommodation is subject to availability. In case of non-availability, alternate accommodation will be recommended.
All outdoor activities are subject to weather conditions.
Upon arrival at Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS), you will be assisted by your guide and depart for a panoramic tour of the village. You will spend a night in Lisbon with hotel accommodation.
After breakfast, you will depart to Óbidos. Visit the medieval village surrounded by the castle walls with typical white-limed houses and wrought-iron balconies. In Nazaré, you will find the most colorful fisherman village typical in Portugal. You will reach Coimbra by the northern motorway, a charming university town with a youthful atmosphere that is home to a crowd of students. You will arrive Porto by the end of the day to spend the night.
After breakfast, you will depart towards Douro Valley. The ever-changing hues of northern countryside will hold your attention along Douro Valley, surrounded by a splendid colorful landscape where vineyards have their own special roles to play. This is indeed, the port wine region! Admire and visit a farm that produces the Porto wine and then return to Porto to spend another night.
After breakfast, you have a full day at Porto. Porto is a city built on the right bank of the Douro River, where the old features contrast with the new ones. Explore Dona Maria Bridge that was built by Eiffel. Enjoy a pleasant drive along the river to Foz and enjoy its own special character. You will board a boat for a trip along Douro River to see the city from another perspective taking approximately 50 minutes ride. By the end of the tour, you will visit a Porto wine cellar for wine tasting. Then, depart for Lisbon in the afternoon, where you will spend the night.
After breakfast, go on a tour to discover the city of Lisbon. Promenade in one of the typical old quarters known as Alfama, and walk along its narrow streets that showcase a rich Arab influence. Then, visit the Belem quarter for a glimpse of the Jerónimos Monastery and the Belém Tower, which are both good examples of the 16th century Manueline style or gothic.
Depart to visit the medieval village of Sintra, which is the former Royal summer residence, chosen to inspire writers and poets such as Lord Byron who named it The Garden of Eden. Proceeding to Cape da Roca towards the western-most point in continental Europe, explore the beaches of Guincho, Cascais, and Estoril, which had been renamed seaside resorts. Then return to Lisbon following the coast for another night.
After breakfast, depart towards a fantastic and carefully-thought, personalized private wine tour to Azeitão, which is approximately 50 minutes from Lisbon. You will be led by wine specialists. You will visit one of the most antique and important wine caves in Portugal called Caves José Maria da Fonseca. It’s time to taste the amazing Moscatel de Setúbal or the muscat. Move along to Évora that takes approximately one and a half hour from Lisbon. It’s a historic town declared as a UNESCO world heritage. Due to its well-preserved old town center, it is still partially enclosed by medieval walls. It still has a large number of monuments including a Roman Temple, dating from different historical periods. Évora is also a member of the Most Ancient European Towns Network. You will spend a night here, in Evora.
After breakfast, depart towards Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS), which would take approximately three and a half hours drive.
This wine holiday will take you around Portugal to taste the best wine in the region from Lisbon to Porto and to Evora, which is the final stop of the tour.
You will be served with three daily meals, including breakfast and meals as per itinerary.
