Tea Tasting and Culinary Vacation Taiwan

Guests will be brought to The One, a historic wellness spa that once acted as a private retreat for visiting dignitaries such as Margaret Thatcher and Mikhail Gorbachev. No longer a private retreat, The One is now open to those wishing to experience beautiful classical Chinese architecture surrounded by enchanting scenery. You’ll soak in a tea-infused medicinal bath in your private suite and have full access to everything The One has to offer, from perfectly manicured landscapes, Chinese gardens, traditional architecture, to multiple spa treatment packages. Established in 1985, The One Nanyuan is the former retirement residence of United Daily News founder Wang Tiwu. The residence was planned and designed by Mr. Han Pao-te, who used ancient methods, combining Southern Chinese-style gardens and Fukienese architecture to create a classical landscape garden.


Day 1: From city to countryside

You’ll leave the city behind as you head into the foothills of Taiwan’s central mountain range, stopping first at a traditional tea factory showcasing the best in Taiwanese and Japanese teas. After sipping tea by a tranquil pond, you’ll have lunch at an exclusive restaurant before continue to The One, a historic wellness retreat where Qing dynasty-style buildings sit gently in acres of sublime rolling hills. You’ll spend the rest of the day, evening and night, surrounded by sublime beauty and relaxing with medicinal spa baths and music.

Day 2: From Hsinchu to Taipei

Everyone relaxes at their own pace, so on the second day, you’ll have the option of greeting the day with an outdoor yoga class or by sleeping in. The One prides itself on serving meals made with local, natural, and organic ingredients, so there’s no reason to rush through breakfast. Afterwards, return to your suite to relax more, or spend the rest of the morning strolling the grounds of The One, exploring the classical Qing dynasty-style buildings and pavilions surrounded on all sides by bamboo gardens and endless nature. After checking out of your room, you’ll head out to the Beipu Old Street and enjoy traditional local lei cha (ground tea) with seasonal local snacks for lunch. You'll drive back to Taipei City in the afternoon.

  • Spend the morning relaxing and exploring the grounds at The One
  • After checking out, head to explore Hsinchu’s Beipu Old Street
