I love this place. Nothing is too much trouble, its so relaxing. I needed to go to the doctors during the trip and had arrived by train so didn't have a car and Dominic took me there without hesitation. I did the detox with vegetables in the evening. Came back feeling fab. There is always such interesting people staying there and I love sitting around the kitchen table at meal times chatting and then having time on my own. Wonderful!

This was my first visit to Middle Piccadilly (more to follow I'm sure!) and found it easily. I was welcomed by Dominic at Reception who gave me a quick tour of facilities and then showed me to my room. I had the double shown in the photos above, which was in an out-building, along with my own bathroom and sitting room. Both my bedroom and sitting room's were fully stocked with a selection of teas and coffee. Everything was immaculate and in-keeping with the rustic country building. There is a small sitting room in another building with a computer and WiFi. Also, a remarkable "Star Building" which is a fantastic hexagonal wooden structure in the grounds which you are free to use for yoga, meditation or just being peaceful and calm. It was lovely and toasty warm and I enjoyed spending time there. I chose the "Live Smart Live Clean" package, which included an amazing Shamanic Healing session with Eliana (Dominic's mother) who is a remarkable octogenarian who was such an inspiration to me! As fit as a fiddle and extremely knowledgeable and passionate about healing. It truly was an honor to meet her. I felt quite different after my healing session and was even startled when looking in the mirror as I'm sure I even looked different too! The package also included a Therapeutic Massage, "Hands on Heart" therapy (type of hand and foot massage) and a Mud-Wrap, both delivered by Claire, who was so warm and kind, and also very well skilled at her role. She also pitched-in and provided housekeeping duties too, so she was already familiar to me and really gave a good family feel to the place. I also made use of the Sauna & Japanese bath sessions, which were so relaxing. The four-night package was based around 2 days of juices, 1 day of raw food, and 1 day of vegetarian food. Dominic explained clearly where everything was and I could wander into the kitchen at my own pace and find the food ready for me. The juices were well balanced and differed at each meal. It was the raw food that proved such an amazing revelation to me! I could not believe how delicious it was, I had a nut burger served with a tomato salsa and guacamole, along with a hearty side-salad. Every part of the meal was perfection in delivery and taste. I was even introduced to dehydrated food with a dehydrated half-cherry-tomato with basil leaf and piece of garlic, all dried and shrunk down to the more delicious morsel of food! I've already ordered a new blender for juices/smoothies, but am now also looking out for a dehydrator too! The vegetarian food was also excellent and well prepared - even managed-during a brief power-cut without fluster or problem. It's very much a hands-off approach there, so they will leave you in peace. However, being very curious I kept pestering Dominic with lots of questions and he would always given plenty of great detail and information. I felt very comfortable in everybody's company. I'm now back home feeling like I've had a wonderful break from normal life and have been able to truly relax. I couldn't recommend it more!

I recently made my third visit to Middle Piccadilly. I love the quiet, peaceful location; it is situated deep in the countryside, yet it is conveniently only a short taxi ride from Sherborne town. It feels like a home from home and it felt like that the first time I stayed. It is cosy and relaxing. There is no standing to attention and it is not a place for fluffy white bathrobes in the typical 'spa' sense. I like it because it is laid back and I can have plenty of undisturbed time to unwind. There is however a good range of treatments to have. If you're curious and have an open mind then it is a good place to try out the more unusual but powerful treatments such as shamanic healing. All the meals are taken in the wonderful farmhouse kitchen, along with other guests, and the food is delicious and hearty. I stayed in the en-suite room (it is a shame there is only one en-suite) which was lovely and warm with a very comfortable bed.

I arrived stressed and exhausted, and departed feeling fully restored and inspired. I cant imagine where else that turnaround would be possible.

More traditional retreat than spa, this is a beautiful place where you can escape from reality for a while. The location is very peaceful with minimal mobile phone reception and the surroundings and alternative treatments on offer encourage reflection and contemplation more than superficial pampering. The rooms are basic but clean and very comfortable and the vegetarian menu is very good. I would highly recommend a visit here to revive the spirit and soul.

I love this place; I have been several times. Granted it is not an elaborate spa and that is what I like about it. It is very tranquil and very relaxed. There is no military schedule to stick to or to feel obliged to stick for fear you won't fit in with the rest of the group. This is a small, intimate retreat where people have the freedom to do a lot of nothing if they so choose. It feels like home to me. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the place has a rustic charm which is delightful. The treatments are sublime and the therapists are all wonderful.Dominic is an excellent cook and even managed to make the steamed vegetables that I subsisted on for a week taste like ambrosia. I look forward to being back soon.

My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights in mid-January. It was wonderful, a great place to get away from it all, clear your mind and feel totally relaxed. The owners, Dominic and Lisa, and their family were really warm and welcoming.I had the pleasure of meeting Dominic's mother, she is such a stylish, friendly well-traveled lady who I could have talked to for hours. The food made by Dominic was absolutely delicious, I was concerned there may not be enough to satisfy my appetite but I was wrong there was enough. My single room was clean, comfortable, modern, and warm. The bathroom was just down the hall which was fine. The treatments rooms were clean, nice, warm, and comfortable. I had 3 treatments: an organic facial, full body massage, and a foot treatment. All of which were outstanding as were the therapists who made you feel totally at ease.We went for a lovely walk along the aptly named peaceful lane. I really cannot fault my experience at Middle Piccadilly, I could have done with 2 more nights there to be perfectly honest. If you want a modern spa with swimming pool, sauna, robes, TV, etc., then this will not be the place for you as it has none of the above. On the other hand, if you want to really get away from it all, get some country air, quiet time for introspection, great holistic treatments and good home cooked vegetarian food then look no further.En-suite bathrooms to all rooms would make this retreat even better!

I visited Middle Piccadilly on my own for a week at the beginning of Feb 2014. I had a 4 day Emergence Retreat and a 3 day juice detox. I came away feeling wonderful, renewed in both my body, as well as my mind and spirit. The shamanic healing was a very personal experience and really interesting, and it was lovely getting to know Maya. It was exactly what I was looking for. I soon felt very settled at Middle Piccadilly. It has a lovely home to home feel about it, with all the delicious food, lovely staff and interaction with some of the other lovely guests.Everyone sat together around the kitchen table for meals, which in my opinion was a great touch. I had some really interesting conversations, really enjoyed the company and picked up many tips about food. I had quite a few treatments, which were amazing, the best I have had, and I have had a fair few.I love the fact that time and money is invested in providing guests the best treatments available and really focuses on the genuine wellbeing of a person, as opposed to larger spas, which adopt a one in one out type structure. You really are left to your own devices to rest and do as you please. I spent time sleeping, reading, knitting and walking, and no one bothers you unless you go looking for someone or until the dinner bell rings (a lovely sound). This is a really special and unique place created and run by one family and I will definitely return in the future. If you like nature, peaceful surroundings, good food, meeting new people, some time to yourself, then Middle Piccadilly is perfect for you.
