The Albergo dell'Agenzia hotel in Pollenzo is the brainchild of Slow Food. Endowed with a charm all of its own, it’s the ideal place for anyone keen to indulge in the pleasures of the palate. Housed in the same complex as the University of Gastronomic Sciences and the Wine Bank, it’s the fruit of painstaking restoration of the neo-Gothic buildings of King Carlo Alberto of Savoy’s royal estate.

Situated a few kilometers from Alba and Bra, between the Langhe and Roero hills, a UNESCO world heritage site, the hotel has a restaurant, a bar, a summer swimming pool, a private garage and meeting rooms that can seat from 30 to 200 people. Its range of prestigious facilities is rounded off by two hectares of parkland, while the Cherasco Golf Club is just a few minutes away.

Guests can choose to stay in Relais Sant'Uffizio's traditional rooms and suites or at the modern and recently renovated Casa Moonfrà by Sant'Uffizio, located 200 meters from the main building within the hotel's grounds.

Discover Italy's Piedmont region and take in the local foods and wines during your trip. The Relais Sant'Uffizio Wellness & SPA is the perfect destination for your Italian vacation and is situated close to Asti, Turin and Alba.

Designed for both wine professionals and food enthusiasts, the aims of this tour are many. Of course, making sure that your Italian experience is unique, and a collection of lots of little moments that will stick with you for a long time, was at the top of the list. But even more than that, this is a tour that gives Piedmont the importance that it deserves in such a small area in this breathtaking part of Italy.

Manuelina Culinary has the highest concentration of culinary artisans that they have seen anywhere in the world and they want to share it with you - and of course Manuelina Culinary wanted to do it in style. Everything has been carefully planned and organized: from your luxury boutique hotels, award-winning wines, or almost forgotten but upcoming ones, Michelin restaurants or family run trattorias, vintage car drives through the rolling vines, markets, and, of course, artisan producers. Also, you will meet the people behind them all.

Day 1: Milan to Lago Maggiore

Meal plan: Dinner.

After picking you up from your hotel in Milan or Milan-Malpensa Airport (MXP), you make your way to your luxury hotel set among the beauty of Lake Maggiore in Oleggio Castello. Enjoy the afternoon exploring the grounds before you head out to dinner in a beautiful local trattoria.

Day 2: Lessona and Bramaterra

Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This morning, you head out into the Alpine foothills in search of the lost kings and queens of Piedmont wines: Bramaterra and Lessona. These wines, almost forgotten, bring a classic Nebbiolo to a whole new level, reminiscent of the aromas carried along the alpine winds.

This evening your wine host, Mark, will take you through a tour of Piedmont wines that you will explore in the coming days accompanied by the beautiful meal of local ingredients.

Day 3: Marchese di Gresy, Tajarin

Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Today is the day where you really start to feel like an Italian. All the locals today will make you feel just like you are at home. On your way to Alba you will stop off first for a visit to a Barbaresco producer and then for a tasting treck through Barbaresco, picking up some wines for tasting later as well. Lunch at a local renowed Trattoria for a feast of the famous Tajarin pasta, then check-in at your impressive family-owned hotel, and Italian-style agriturismo.

Time to relax before you head out to visit a microbrewery and of course sample a few to wash down your light dinner.

Day 4: Alba, pairing wine with food, and Michelin restaurant

Meal plan: Breakfast and dinner.

There aren’t many exciting destinations for gourmet travelers like Alba, a picturesque town in the heart of Piedmonte that’s renowned worldwide for its succulent white truffles, velvety red Barolo and Barbaresco wines and wonderful fruit. Home to some of northern Italy’s best restaurants dotted along every cobblestone street, Alba absolutely deserves its reputation as the jewel of the Langhe and as one of the world’s finest food and wine hot spots.

This morning you will have head on into Alba together for a guided wall of the town and an aperitivo, before attending a glorious dinner at the beautiful Michelin restaurant.

In the evening, there is an option to head back to your accommodation for some rest. Anyone looking to continue on in Alba for some shopping, aperitivo or dinner can stay in Alba and the bus will pick up later in the evening.

Day 5: Vintage cars, Barolo, and chocolate

Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

An unforgettable experience awaits you today. You’ll drive through the Langhe region aboard the vintage cars discovering the flavors of the Italian tradition, visiting wineries, and stopping to admire castles and medieval villages. Stop for lunch at a local trattoria in Monforte then back on track for some more fun and tastings.

After releasing the cars, you’ll be back to the hotel for some rest then have another great dinner at a renowned restaurant with a special visit to their spectacular cantina and the grottos hosting some delicious Culatello.

Day 6: Spumante, Monferrato, hazelnuts, and Gianduja

Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Spend a sparkling morning while visiting local producers of Spumante, Moscato, Brachetto, and Monferrato in the Asti area. Following transfer to Turin, the regional capital of Piedmont, a fascinating and vibrant city, one shrouded in mystery, immersed in history, and bursting with flavor (both literally and figuratively). You will visit the large street food market in Europe and speak directly with the farmers. High-quality local products will be served to explore the roots of Piedmont’s cuisine and you will enjoy some of Turin’s finest dishes such as zabaione, chocolate, torrone, and hazelnut cream. Enjoy some free time before you head back to your relais for some relaxation.

In the afternoon, you will attend a cooking class back to your hotel, based on local dishes, and enjoy your efforts altogether.

Day 7: The rarest of cheese and wine

Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Today is the day for all things rare in cheese and wine Montebore. Today the rarest cheese in the world has a very ancient origin. In 1489 it was the cheese of choice, and also the only cheese served at the wedding of Ludovoco Sforza's son wedding with Isabel d'Aragon. You will get to see and sample this delicate cheese and your lunch will be served directly in the cheese room.

Your last day will finish with a trip to the Garbagna area where the Timorasso wine is grown, a full bodied white, which was about to disappear before being revitalized by local farmers.

You'll go back to hotel for packing. Farewell dinner at a family restaurant where your tour leader will greet everyone with a final briefing round the table.
