Take a grand and unusual tour around the Portofino area, leading you through the grand Portofino Gulf Coast and some of its refinement. Have the time to enjoy and admire the spectacular sceneries of the Ligurian villages, as well as experience true Italian cuisine.
During this holiday, you will be staying in Villa Paggi guesthouse which will offer you, depending on the availability, either comfortable ensuite bedrooms on B&B basis or a self-catering independent apartment. All accommodations in Villa Paggi guesthouse enjoy a private patio or terrace and a view over the sea. Private car parking is also available inside the property.
In alternative to Villa Paggi accommodation, Anna also proposes other nearby independent apartments with a fully equipped kitchen and enjoying a private garden and a beautiful view over the gulf and Portofino promontory.
During one day of your stay, Anna, your hostess, will introduce you to the Portofino area leading you on an unusual tour of the Portofino Gulf Coast through some of its refinements, such as a medieval basilica, or a new age style sophisticated villa with its own park, now a museum, an old refined silk factory with handlooms, etc.
During another day of your stay, Anna will hold a cooking class for you in her private kitchen, on the theme of typical Ligurian cuisine, ending with a dinner cooked during the class and enjoyed in her garden, with a magnificent sea view during the sunset.
In this tour, you will visit Santa Margherita village a pearl of the Gulf of Tigullio, with its refined historical downtown, with arcades and painted buildings new age style, not to talk of the 16th-century abbey of San Girolamo, better known as “the Cervara”, with its terraced gardens overlooking the sea.
While visiting Santa Margherita, you will be taken by its typical atmosphere, perfect to taste some traditional street food and local wine. You will continue your trip up to Portofino village where you will have a quick visit to its worldwide known square, the uphill church, and castle.
You will spend the afternoon moving back along the coast where you will reach Zoagli village and visit one or two traditional silk factories. Both of them will show you their old handlooms, and you will be invited in their show rooms, where you can indulge yourself with your purchases.
The next day, Anna will also lead you to a guided visit to Abbazia dei Fieschi, just in her neighborhood, at the back of Lavagna town, and show you a jewel of the past belonging to the medieval local noble family. After the visit, you will be invited to her house and kitchen for a cooking session, followed by a full meal enjoyed in her garden.
Born and educated in Milan, Anna gained there a considerable and diversified career as office assistant in sales and export departments until 1991. After a 3-year study and work stay in Dublin (Rep. of Ireland), she returned to Milan and continued her career as personal assistant at international companies until 2002. After moving to Liguria in Chiavari area, in 2003, she proudly opened her B&B, thanks to her command of English and French and her familiarity with public relations. She had to close down her B&B in 2012 but since then, she has been dealing with the promotion of the tour.
This tour will take you to visit the Portofino area, touching various places along its gulf coastline including Santa Margherita, Portofino, Zoagli, Lavagna, Cogorno, and Fieschi's abbey. Villa Paggi guesthouse welcomes you in an enchanting green spot, definitely off the beaten tracks but very convenient to the beaches and the coastline of the Tigullio Gulf (only 9 kilometers).
The cooking class will be held in Anna's private kitchen instead, in the village of Cogorno, not far from Villa Paggi guesthouse. From Anna's house and garden, you will enjoy a spectacular view over the gulf, with Portofino Promontory at a distance.
The prices include daily breakfast, one lunch based on street food and wine tasting, 1 dinner at a local restaurant and 1 dinner served after the cooking class at Anna's the cook. All the meals include wine. Food will be seafood and vegetarian dishes from the typical Ligurian cuisine.
A small spa is available to the guests in Villa Paggi guesthouse providing a free small gym area with a spin bike, cross-trainer, and multi-function bench, a wellness area equipped with a hammam for two, and a four-seat jacuzzi bath.
