For eight of the past eleven years,my wife and take our vacations in Italy. We have traveled by ourselves and also in small groups such as "Living Umbria". We can say that our hosts (Carol & Neal) exceeded our expectations in hospitality, information, interest, and they were able to deal calmly and professionally with any minor issue that might arise. It is our very strong intention to travel with them during our next trip in 2017. We could not recommend them more highly.

Carol Searle arranged a private tour for us - a couple in our 60s with very specific interests. She worked closely with me in tailoring a week in Umbria. She was available and responsive. She put together a 6 day trip that exceeded expectations. She chose very compatible and experienced local guides who spoke English, were charming, intelligent, and knowledgeable about the area. Nothing was too much for the guides - Emanuela for part of the trip and Katrin for another part- based on their areas of expertise. Although not present, Carol was completely hands on - making sure the trip ran smoothly. Her husband, Neil, is a gem - he is an artist, historian, built his own home with his bare hands over the course of 2 years, a hard working and knowledgeable man - he did part of the guided tours. He also generously gave us a tour of his restored castle/home. The amount of knowledge that he imparted made our heads explode. We spent 2 days in Orvieto ( our request) and then were based in Montefalco at Camiano Piccolo. Everything that previous reviewers have said about the agriturismo is totally accurate. The owners are welcoming, attentive, helpful, and the food was delicious. Katrin, the guide, took us to the places we had requested - Norcia, a truffle hunt in the mountains high above Spoleto, Spello, Bevegna, and more. She tirelessly translated Italian to English for us and helped us do our all important food shopping in Norcia. the truffle hunt at a working farm was a highlight. The food at the farmhouse was (sorry to be a bit hyperbolic) a religious experience. I have eatten all over Italy anf the food at this Agriturismo Bartoli was the best I have ever had. We joined the family for their Sunday dinner, course after course, one was better than the next. The owners were welcoming and charming. The truffle hunt was productive and an exciting experience. Carol providedthis customized tour and arranged everything we asked for including tours of some private gardens near Orvieto. We were completely pleased with our experience and would recommend Living Italy to anyone, of any age. Just be specific about what you want and you will get it and more!

Carol and Neil: you did a fabulous job creating our Umbrian itinerary. The guides you chose were perfectly compatible with us and extremely knowledgeable. Without them we would not have been able to appreciate what we were seeing. They went out of their way to show us extra things that were not on the itinerary. I can't praise enough the skills of Maria Emanuela and Katrin. They were wonderful. And of course- there was Neil!! I don't have to tell you!!! Our heads were exploding with all the information he gave us. He was so welcoming in inviting us to your lovely home. We were so impressed at his skills and creativity in building your home. So much love there. Not to mention his art work - he is a genius. It is hard to type this all on my little phone. I could go on and on extolling how wonderful you all made our trip.
