In this journey of honey we enter the enchanting world of the bees and we learn all the secrets of the honeybee and beekeeping. We visit traditional honey production and processing units and we learn about the species, the history, the anatomy, the reproduction and their highly organized social structure. We will safely walk through beautiful flowered landscapes in order to meet and admire the magical world of the bees in their natural environment. We will taste unique Greek varieties of honey and cook dishes with pure Greek honey as the main ingredient. We also visit the world famous historical monuments. Mycenae, Epidavros and Nafplio, to admire their long history.

Pension Marianna is a family hotel in the center of the Nafplio, located in the old town of Nafplion, just under the rock of Akronafplia and very close to the Venetian walls. Taking all the necessary safety measures and wearing protective uniforms, we visit the place where the hives are straight into the nature and we admire the enchanting way by which they operate as a society, the way they communicate with each which looks like a kind of dance other and the procedure by which they build and fill in their honeycombs with pure fresh honey.
We learn all the process for the harvest of honey, royal jelly, propole and wax from the honeycombs, we taste different varieties of honey in order to distinguish between them and we get informed about their products, such as body creams and various kinds of soaps.
This unique experience finishes with the participation of the visitors in the procedure of gastronomic utilization of this unique product, cooking Greek food and making traditional sweets with honey as the main ingredient. Finally, we all gather like a family around a table and we eat food that weve just cooked, with traditional Greek Rakomelo.
17:00 We pick you up from the Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, and we depart for the majestic Nafplio.
18:00 We make a brief stop at the Isthmus Canal, an international maritime transport hub, which connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf through a narrow sea channel with a total length of 6.3 kilometers.
We continue our journey (one more hour) through the rich vineyards hillsides of Nemea and the Argolic plain with endless orange groves and we arrive at our hotel, where we settle and have dinner.
In the afternoon we gather to discuss the plan for the next days and the activities that will follow.
Tour in Nafplio and its castles, theoretical update
After breakfast, we set off for our acquaintance with the city of Nafplio, accompanied by an experienced guide, to learn about its long history as we wander in the picturesque alleys with its neoclassical mansions and Venetian balconies.
We walk at the castle of Akronafplia and we visit the little peaceful port to board on one of the traditional boats to reach out and explore the Venetian fortress of Bourtzi.
Then, we have lunch at one of the traditional taverns of Nafplio, where we can taste local Greek delicacies, while a bit later we explore the unseen side of the city.
With the help of local escorts, we tour on paved paths and we travel through time. We admire the view of Nafplio from the Castle of Akronafplia and we are fascinated by its unique architecture.
In the afternoon we gather to the hotel, where a local beekeeper is ready to introduce us to the magical world of beekeeping, through images, objects and derivatives of beekeeping.
Our afternoon is free for walks in the beautiful town of Nafplio.
Hiking and touring in bee hives, visit a traditional ouzo distillery
After breakfast we start with an intra-day trekking through flowered landscapes, towards the natural place where the bees collect pollen from the colorful flowers of the region. Our lungs are filled with rich aromas of Greek nature and our soul rejoices by the magnificent natural beauty.
After a brief stop to wear the special protective suits, we approach the beehives, where an experienced beekeeper informs us about the beekeeping procedures and disseminates his knowledge about the development of the bee society, the construction of the honeycomb and the making of honey.
We watch the queen of a beehive and we discern the reverence with which the worker bees follow faithfully her commands.
At noon we have our lunch in a tavern of the area and a few hours later we visit a small traditional distillation unit for Greek ouzo and tsipouro.
We will be briefed about the production process and we will taste unique Greek distillates accompanied by light dishes, while admiring their long history through the Museum of the distillery.
In the evening we return to the hotel for overnight stay.
Visit to a traditional honey harvesting unit and to a workshop of traditional sweets.
After breakfast, we visit a small traditional beekeeping workshop where we learn everything about the maintenance of bees and the vintage. We watch the honey collection process and we taste intoxicating honey varieties of flower, orange, chestnut, pine etc.
We have lunch at some tavern of the area.
We visit a picturesque village where a small family business of Greek traditional sweets is located. Altogether, we make and taste traditional Greek sweets made of honey such as dumplings, sesame etc.
Depending on the season, we watch all the manufacturing process of the fruit into traditional sweet and we taste unique flavors of traditional Greek sweets and liqueurs with Greek fruit as the main ingredient.
We return to Nafplio, where we will have endless free time for strolling and shopping, while in the evening we return to the hotel and we stay overnight.
Guided tour at Mycenae and Epidaurus and visit to a traditional honey processing unit.
After breakfast, our first stop is the famous Mycenae, home of the Mycenaean civilization and Greek prehistory, where we visit the famous burial circles, the Gate of the Lions and the famous vaulted tombs of Atreus and Clytemnestra.
Our next stop is the famous theatre of Epidaurus that took "flesh and bones" in 340 BC. We wander in Asklipieio, and we are impressed by the perfect acoustics of the theater, which still hosts rich musical, dance and theatrical performances.
At noon we have lunch, we return to our hotel and we rest for a few hours.
In the afternoon we depart for a small workshop that is producing honey products, where we are informed for all its derivatives, such as wax, propolis, royal jelly, organic cosmetics and soaps with honey as the main ingredient.
Finally we return to our hotel for overnight stay.
Cooking lesson and farewell celebration
After breakfast, we head towards a beautiful scenic place where, with the guidance and assistance of our experienced local chef, we prepare traditional Greek food, using pure and fresh ingredients of the Argolic land.
A few hours later our dishes are ready and our experience turns into a feast. Altogether as one group of locals we sit around a table and we eat the tasty dishes accompanied by Greek traditional music and local wine. Joys, teasing and laughter accompany us throughout the meal.
Our afternoon is free to enjoy our latest rides in the beautiful town of Nafplio, while in the evening we gather for a beautiful farewell celebration, accompanied by wine, ouzo and Greek foods, reminiscing the moments that we experienced.
After breakfast, we depart from our hotel and we arrive at the Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport.

Argolis is one of the regional units in Greece. It is considered to be one of the most famous destinations in Greece. Argolis is the ideal place for travelers who would like to visit priceless ancient monuments and enjoy at the same time, the marvelous and picturesque natural scenery. It is situated in the eastern part of Peloponnese peninsula.

The capital city of Agrolis is Nafplio. It is a seaport town which expands up the hillsides near the north end of the Argolic Gulf. Nafplio was the capital of the First Hellenic Republic from the start of the Greek Revolution in 1821 till 1833. Nafplio is pretty much famous for its marvelous castles along with the archeological sites that surround it, such as Mycenae, Epidaurus and Tiryntha.
Most arable land lies in the central part of Argolis. Its primary agricultural resources are oranges and olives. Argolis has a wonderful coastline on the Saronic Gulf in the northeast and on the Argolic Gulf in the south and southeast.
Notable mountains ranges are the Oligyrtos in the northwest, Lyrkeio and Ktenia in the west, and Arachaio and Didymo in the east which give the opportunity to the visitor to experience nature through picturesque paths for walking or cycling and taste unique flavors of local products in traditional villages.
Moreover, the visitor can very well participate in feasts and activities of the local community. Throughout the whole year, local people organize different kind of feasts in order to celebrate the harvest of citrus fruits offering generously to the visitors fresh, healthy and delicious dishes from the local production.
