Lovely ambience, impeccable service, and considering its reputation good value for money. My only slightly negative comment is that I found the 'Spring ramble' dessert a little underwhelming...it had a touch of the assembly line about it... But everything else was terrific.

Marvelous attention to detail both in the accommodation and at the two hatted restaurant. Loved being looked after at the table with great suggestions for wine with what I chose; and then afterwards at the fireside for cheese and whisky. The location is a knockout but so is the food. We also really liked the art works reflecting the local area and the proximity to the walking tracks around the lake. Early Spring is a wonderful time to visit with the blossom coming out and the touch of green everywhere. We couldn't fault our experience. Suits those looking for a beautiful, quiet, reflective location to spoil themselves with

The Lake House provides something that is rare in Australia but common in the UK and western Europe - delightful and comfortable accommodation in a semi rural setting with a high quality restaurant attached. The rooms are large and comfortable. The fittings and linen are all quality, the king size bed is very comfortable with good lighting for those who like to read in bed and the bathroom is also large and well thought out with top quality toiletries, double hand basin and a large walk in shower and separate bath. A small kitchenette and a walk-in luggage / hanging room adds to the ambiance. The underfloor heating in the bathroom is great for a visit to the bathroom on a chilly night. A lake view suite is worth the extra with a large balcony from which you can watch the sunset across the lake. The perfect place to relax and to enjoy the facilities that the Lake House has available.

Just returned from three nights in Daylesford, beautiful town and the Lake House was the perfect place to stay. I stayed in a waterfront room which was beautifully decorated and thoughtfully appointed. Some of the highlights:The restaurant was fantastic. The staff were great and I was so impressed on our second night there that as soon as we walked in one of the waiters immediately began lowering the sun shade, as I had asked him to do this the night before due to the sun being in my eyes. Both nights they raised the shades as soon as the sun passed the bad spots. This attention to detail was very much appreciated. Breakfast each morning was lovely. The cooked breakfast, also included, was varied and delicious. One morning our breakfast took more than 40 minutess to arrive with no explanation so this was a shame, we could see others ordering after us and receiving their meals (which were different to what we had ordered) so not sure what the problem was but a simple explanation somewhere during our 40 min wait would have been good. The welcome by reception was fantastic. We were shown through our rooms and had everything explained. Our bags were brought from our car to our rooms, everything was very easy. The birds were beautiful, lots of ducks and geese; loads of bees buzzing around the lavender too. The only downside to this is the lawn is full of duck poo! It was worth it, we just stuck to the paths. Some of the negatives, but really nothing serious as I am very much looking forward to going back!If you have someone who is heavy footed, as we did, above you then you will hear them the moment they wake up until the moment they go to sleep. I don't know why some people have to dig their feet into the ground when they walk - but some do. I also found they smoked on their balcony which caused me to have to close my door. I would probably ask for an 'upstairs' room if I go again. Funnily enough, this is actually on ground level to the restaurant etc so you wouldn't actually have any stairs to climb. We were both disappointed in the spa service. The foot package (30 minutes for AUD 100 was nothing but a rip off, it certainly wasn't 30 minutes and not much more than a foot bath). As I had booked it with another service it's hard to tell how long each component was. The welcome to the spa though was great, as was the facial. It was the best facial I've ever had! Lots of different temperatures, textures and smells. I think I would try one of the other 50 spas if or when I go again.

You would be forgiven for thinking you had been transported to a European destination when visiting The Lake House in Daylesford, which is less than an hour and a half drive from Melbourne. Not only are the environments reminiscent of a gorgeous Swiss or Italian village, but the staff all seem to hail from the same regions with their delightful accents and exacting service standards. We were lucky to be given one of the studio suites (thank you Edward) which is brand spanking new. Dinner in the restaurant was a highlight of the visit.Canaps are served in the library before dinner and they even accommodated my annoying gluten free status. We had the a-la-carte three-course option as it was part of our package, but you can upgrade to the degustation for an additional AUD 40 or AUD 25 for the vegetarian option. My husband was mighty impressed with the lamb that we shared. Breakfast is served the following day in the restaurant and it's bountiful, with a choice of a cooked option too. This visit was to acknowledge our first visit to The Lake House some 25 years ago. It's still memorable and a very special destination.

My boyfriend surprised me with a night away here last week and lord it was like heaven! The room was beautiful, huge bed, lovely bathroom. The staff was great and even played along with my boyfriend in keeping the surprise. The restaurant at the Lake House is great! We had lovely cocktails and tapas before dinner and a romantic setting for our 3-course (but ended up being 7 course as they kept bringing out between course treats) dinner. We had a lovely time and the breakfast in the morning is great! Nice coffee and outstanding service. Will be back for sure.
