Ana Garcia is one of the most vivacious traditional Mexican chefs and teachers in Mexico today. The inspiration for Chef Ana’s recipes and hospitality grow out of her long, rich family history in central and northern Mexico. She has taken this extensive knowledge and incorporated it into a culinary repertoire that includes traditional central and northern Mexican specialties, as well as nouvelle Mexican cuisine using traditional ingredients in new and gastronomically adventurous ways.
My week at La Bonita was a real delight. Ana was a great host and teacher. I definitely have learned lots of cooking skills, cooking a full meal for four days enabled you to really get into Mexican cooking, how to use the different chillis, improve cooking skills and generally learn how a good cook does it. The kitchen where you cooked had an amazing view over the town and hills. As a solo traveler, I was really welcomed into Ana's family, played board games with them, went to yoga and walked up to the pyramid. So a lot more than just cooking. I really recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing week learning a new cuisine. I am definitely interested in going again - perhaps to one of their weeks by the coast.

My spouse reserved this bed and breakfast and cooking school based on information he researched about the classes and the experience of Chef Ana Garcia. We spent seven days at the property and felt like we had moved in with the family! Each morning was a trip to the market to source ingredients for the main meal of the day in Chef Ana's kitchen that is open to the breezes and views of Tepotzlan. Then, on to the prep, cooking and pleasure of eating "food from the heart to the table". We liked the variety and authenticity of the recipes and have already registered for Thanksgiving week cooking with Chef Ana and her family on the coast in Sayulita. Either location, Tepotzlan or Sayulita, would be a great opportunity for families or groups of friends to share. Buen Provecho!

What a wonderful way to vacation and enjoy traditional Mexican cuisine. Chef Ana and her family make you feel so welcome and, no matter what level you are at, cooking Chef Ana makes you feel like you are doing everything perfect. The trips to the market, a trip to an artisan potter - it was all interesting and very fun. Then, after cooking all afternoon, we all sit down and enjoy good conversation with fabulous food. You could not ask for more. I will go back.
