Your home will be a 14th century tower in the upper part of Bergamo. The kitchen is right on top of a medieval tower with almost a 360 degrees view. Breakfast and meals will be cooked here. Two rooms are available: a king-size double bed with bathroom inside, and a French double bed plus a room with a desk, bathroom in the corridor.

Day 1 - Arrival

  • Greet each other at the tower
  • Take your time to walk around the town
  • Dinner in the house with all guests

Day 2 - Local food market visit, cooking class

  • Breakfast at 08:30
  • Visit to a local food market (only on Fridays) or to delicatessen shops in Citt Bassa, shopping for the cooking class
  • Back home, preparation of an Italian pranzo domenicale (Sunday lunch)
  • Free time until 19:00 for a dinner apero in a typical bar

Day 3 - Cheese and wine shops visits, cooking class

  • Breakfast at 08:30
  • Visit to the art museum Accademia Carrara or to the historical center
  • Visit to specialized cheese shop and wine shop (wine and cheese tasting included)
  • Visit to Città Bassa
  • Shopping in high quality supermarket Esselunga, considered one of the first three supermarkets in the world from the Boston Consulting Group
  • Dinner preparation class

Day 4 - Cheese production workshop

  • Breakfast at 08:30
  • Trip to Valtorta in Val Brembana, at the Agriturismo Ferdy
  • Visit the farm for a cheese production workshop
  • Walk up to a typical mountain cottage
  • Lunch with polenta and typical dishes
  • Back to Bergamo
  • Free time in the evening
  • Dinner and drinks in a typical bar

Day 5 - Lake Iseo, wine producer xisit

  • Breakfast at 08:30
  • Visit to Lake Iseo and to the small town on the lake
  • Light lunch
  • Visit to a wine producer in Valcalepio area
  • Back to Bergamo
  • Free time in the evening
  • Pizza all together in Città Vecchia

Day 6 - Day trip to Milan

  • Breakfast 08:30
  • Departure to Milan by train
  • Visit to Eataly (store with Italian products from all over Italy)
  • Shopping in Corso Como
  • Lunch in Amati, new and old traditional food
  • Visit to Piazza Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele: shopping time
  • Train back to Bergamo
  • Light dinner at home

Day 7 - Departure

You will take your time to wander through Citta Vecchia of Bergamo Alto, a place famous for its architecture, history, culture and of course, gastronomy! In the third day, you will visit together the Art Museum Accademia Carrara, or the historical center. You will also visit a specialized cheese shop and wine shop (with delicious wine and cheese tasting included), and then hit Città Bassa.

In the fourth day, you will stop at Agriturismo Ferdy to talk a bit about some real cheese and then take a walk up to a mountain cottage (polenta and typical dishes lunch). In the fifth day of the tour, you will go see Lake Iseo and the small town on the lake, as well as visit a Valcalepio area wine producer after lunch. On the sixth day you will travel to Milano by train, stop and get delighted at Eataly and then hit Corso Como, Piazza Duomo and Vittorio Emanuele Gallery for a shopping session all'italiana.

This retreat will take place in Bergamo, Italy. Located in northern Italy, Bergamo is easy to reach and at hand in order to make connections with other well-known destinations. Orio al Serio Airport is the main European connection for Ryanair, buses and trains are available to reach Milan and its airports within one hour. On the first day, you will enjoy a dinner with all guests. On the second day, you will prepare and enjoy a typical Italian Sunday lunch, such as:

  • Crostini di salsiccia e robbiola (warm bread with soft sausage and creamy cheese)
  • Risotto alla zucca (pumpkin risotto or other seasonable vegetable)
  • Lonza al latte e rosmarino (pork meat cooked with milk and rosemary)
  • Tiramisu classico

For the third day, you will enjoy some cheese and wine tasting and then get ready to cook a gorgeous dinner, consisting of the following:

  • Crema di pomodori secchi e sedano (dry tomatoes and celery cream with toasts)
  • Pasatto di ceci e gamberi (soup of chickpeas and shrimps)
  • Saltimbocca alla romana (turkey meat rolls with ham and cheese)
  • Parfait di mandorle (almonds parfait)

You will shop for fresh ingredients either from the local market, delicatessen shop or the world renowned supermarket Esselunga.

Exclusions

Anything available and not mentioned above will be purchased at your own expenses.

You are recommended to spend the evenings hitting the local souvenir shops, as well as the picturesque bars and pubs located in the Citta Vecchia. Feel free to treat yourself to a spa treatment in San Pellegrino Terme or visit the lake of Garda, lake of Como, Monza, Parma, Cremona and Brescia.
