Have a great cooking vacation in Abruzzo, Italy! Great landscapes, great wines (Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and the Trebbiano d'Abruzzo), bio food and km 0 food, La Cucina Povera, vegetarian and gluten free options, kitchen 80 meters from the sea - all these will make your vacation a memorable one!
Casa Barbara is located in the unspoiled Abruzzo, central/southern Italy, only 80 meters from the beautiful sandy beach of the Adriatic Sea and 30 minutes from Pescara Airport. The guest rooms in the hotel are all private, with private bathrooms, wifi, television, aircon; and it's a 2-minute walk from your room to the kitchen. There is also a beautiful outside swimming pool and beach chairs, free to use. Breakfast is included!
The arrival day you go to your 3-star accommodation, only 200 meters from the sea. From Sunday morning, breakfast is served daily.
You have plenty of free time every day to get to know the beautiful, untouched Abruzzo, to cycle, to visit the beach or to walk for hours. On Thursday morning the fifth and final workshop will take place (lunch). Thursday afternoon and Friday are free to spend.
After breakfast everyone can do what he/she likes or you can go to the wonderful beach of Pineto (200 meters) or do some shopping with your host. At lunch or dinner everyone is expected to be back home. While enjoying a (local) wine, you cook together with local products. There is something for everyone: from fish and meat to vegetarian, gluten-free, and others.
There are two organized trips (inclusive). On Monday morning you go to the market in the medieval art village Atri. After the market visit you can walk in the WWF park of the porcupines. In addition, you visit the local olive grove or visit a village together, hiking in the high mountains.
Barbara is the founder of La Cucina and in 2013, she is organizing culinary vacations in Italy! Barbara has learned the most from her Nonna Giuseppina and from La Mama, cooking from the soul and so on. And she personally thinks that the poorest kitchen is the best and tastiest! In short: enjoy what nature gives, smell, taste and cook to your heart's content.
Abruzzo is in the middle of Italy. Abruzzo has not yet been discovered by foreign tourists, but the Italians themselves come from all over the country to enjoy mountains and sea. You can walk for hours in the Gran Sasso "Little Tibet" and the Majella nature park and enjoy the beautiful coast of the Adriatic Sea (at a walking distance of about 2 minutes from the hotel and Barbara's kitchen). Bicycles are for free, also beach chairs, wifi, swimming pool, etc. And Roma is only 2 hours away! At 7 kilometers from the house you can walk beautifully in the nature reserve of the Calanchi (WWF area).
All meals and wines are included in the package. The food is biologic from farmers in Abruzzo and fish right from the boats (80 meters from the house). The herbs are fresh. Barbara prefers to cook “la cucina povera,” like her nonna did. It is also possible to cook vegetarian and gluten-free. And of course you will make fresh pasta!
Go to the beach, mountains, markets or Rome (2 hours away).
