You will have the option of staying either in Kritsa Gastronomy Hotel or Triantafillies Country Hotel which are two 3-star family-run hotels.

Kritsa Gastronomy Hotel

Situated on the large shady main square of Portaria, with its ancient plane trees and bubbling spring water, the Kritsa gastronomy hotel offers warm hospitality in a unique setting. The combination of the romantic rooms, the wide variety of traditional Greek breakfast items they serve until late in the morning, and the traditional cuisine of their restaurant is a truly special experience.

Triantafillies Country Hotel

Triantafillies country hotel is a restored, 19th century farmhouse in Portaria. Its garden is surrounded by roses and hydrangeas. It has 7 double rooms and an outdoor swimming pool. Its design is based on country style. Their homemade Greek breakfast is served by the cozy fireplace in the breakfast lounge during winter time or in the flowered patio during summer time.


Day 1: Get to know the region

After your arrival in the hotel, you will meet your tour guides. Detailed information will be presented to you about the program of the next days. In the evening, a tour in the nearest village Makrinitsa is planned and accompanied with a visit to a traditional herb shop. On your way back to the hotel, there is a “must stop” in “Aeriko coffee bar” for beverage and local dessert in order to enjoy the sunset. The night will be finished with dinner in Kritsa restaurant.

Day 2: A day full of gastronomic experiences

The day begins with a delicious Greek breakfast in your hotel. Be prepared for a full gastronomic day. Firstly, your guide will drive you in Karaiskos farm. There, the local chef will show you the original grandma’s recipes. In the beginning, you will collect all the ingredients you need for your cooking lesson, next you will cook with chef’s help and in the end the table will be prepared for you to taste what you cooked.

After a small afternoon break in hotel, your guide will show you the famous “tsipouradika” in Agria village (near the city of Volos), small taverns serving local aperitif called tsipouro with meze (Greek tapas) by the sea.

Day 3: Pelion Tour, where the centaurs lived

Enjoy your breakfast in the hotel, a big day is ahead. Your journey to Pelion will start immediately after breakfast. Purpose of your journey is to discover the western beaches of Pagasitikos Gulf and reach the southern part of the mountain. You can ask your guide to stop if you would like to swim.

On your way, you will visit “Milea Winery” and learn about local wines. Your final destination is a fish village, called Trikeri. There, a local fish tavern will prepare pasta for you, with fresh crawfish, cooked in tomato sauce. When you return a light dinner at Kritsa Restaurant will be prepared for you if you still have place.

Day 4: Departure day

Kritsa Gastronomy Hotel won't say goodbye, but see you again soon. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and have a small walk in the village before your departure. If your flight is later in the evening and you are looking for some ideas, just let Kritsa Gastronomy Hotel know earlier in the week.

This holiday will take place in Portaria, which is a village in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. One of the most popular villages of Pelion and the whole country, Portaria combines the atmosphere of the original Pelion village and the unforgettable view of the city of Volos and Pagasitikos with its intense tourist development. Its picturesqueness, natural beauty and the close proximity of both the city of Volos, the Pelion ski center and the sea make it an ideal destination and a base for excursions all over Pelion.

Trees and flowers adorn the stone-paved paths, stone-built traditional houses and squares, while in the whole village there are great mansions, elaborate stone-made fountains, churches and monuments. The village is an all year round destination, for dew in the summer months with baths on the Aegean and the Pagasetic Gulf, for skiing in winter, but also for excursions with hiking and activities in the autumn or spring nature.


All three meals would be provided to you. The cuisine served would be Greek and Mediterranean made out of local and biological products. In your cooking class at Karaiskos farm, you will learn next to the experts to make traditional recipes with olive oil, fresh vegetables, local meat, dairy products, wine and herbs from your hands.

On your first day, you will stop at "Aeriko coffee bar” for beverage and local dessert. On second day, you will visit Agria village (near the city of Volos), where at small taverns you will be served local aperitif called tsipouro with meze (Greek tapas) by the sea. Next day, you will visit “Milea Winery” and learn about local wines and then visit a fishing village called Trikeri.
