Come and enjoy a week of making and eating delicious, nutritious, energizing, and revitalizing, raw food. During this holiday, you will learn how to make delicious dishes with the ingredients that you have in your kitchen, fridge, or garden. You will soon acquire an intuitive feel for which foods go together, so that you can make appetizing meals quickly, rather than reaching for convenient, but less healthy, options.
The center's main building is a large guest house located at the edge of the village, about 8 kilometers from the seaside. The house is embraced by a magical garden, which has roses, hydrangeas, jasmine, rosemary, lavender, and many other species. The climbing vines offer a natural cooling environment, and the view looking over the Aegean from the balcony is spectacular.
The yurt, with a diameter of 4 meters, provides a group space for small workshops and retreats. This yurt is used for staff meetings, 1 on 1 treatment sessions, and contains one massage table. The main space for workshops and retreats is a reciprocal framed roundhouse with a diameter of 7 meters. Its bamboo sides and waterproof roof combine the intimacy of an inside room with the fresh sea breezes and filtered sunlight of an open space.
A separate building houses a well equipped kitchen and laundry room. Between the main building and the kitchen building, a shaded patio provides the dining area for the meals, and which, out of eating hours, is set up for art workshops. Also, the Kissos sanctuary, overlooking the estate and the sea, is open 24 hours for quiet contemplation.
The house has seven rooms; one single, two ensuite twins, two non-ensuite twins, a triple, and an ensuite quadruple. Another six twin rooms are located at the next door neighbors house. Accommodation supplements, which may vary with the season, apply for these village rooms and usually also for singles and twins in the center's hotel.
Six tents and tent spaces, located on the upper extended terrace, are also offered. Provided that you bring your own sleeping bag, towel, and pillow, Kalikalos offers a discount for tent occupancy, which is 5%, if using one of their tents, and 8%, if you bring your own tent. Comfortable foam mattresses are provided for the tents.
This holiday will be an easy enjoyable introduction to eating raw in a warm, sunny climate, away from all the stress and temptations that may have prevented you from ever trying it. Even after a short period eating raw, you can feel how life could be. Once you have experienced the increase in energy, clarity and general health, you will have an incentive to kick the cooked food habit.
In the mornings, you will attend Doctor Helen Ford's healing workshop and, after lunch, you will have free time that you can use to go to the beach. The early evening is spent preparing a raw supper for the community, but there are plenty of other opportunities to help with the raw food, such as making breakfast, preparing crackers to dehydrate in the sun, foraging for free and wild food, and so on; all of them are optional. If you are on the raw food team, you will already be fulfilling your Karma yoga that the center asks of you.
This holiday will take place in Kissos, Greece. Set in a lovely hillside area, overlooking the Aegean sea, Kissos is a village of fruit trees, flowers, and greenery, carved out of the forest above the seaside.

Eating raw food can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it. Food preparation does not necessarily require any special equipment. Usually, the main thing holding anyone back from trying a raw food diet, is simply getting started. Because we are unable to digest food and process emotions at the same time, eating a lighter diet can be emotionally as well as physically healing. Eating raw can help in releasing emotional blocks that may have been suppressed by heavier foods. The food we eat often has more to do with tradition, habit, cravings, addictions, and comfort, rather than actual nutrition and energy. The body can heal itself from a lifetime of less than ideal dietary choices remarkably quickly and what seem like ingrained habits or addictions can be changed within days or weeks.
Arrive at Athens International Airport (ATH), Thessaloniki Airport (SKG), or Nea Anchialos National Airport (VOL).
From the Thessaloniki Airport (SKG), bus number 78 departs every half hour and goes to the main intercity coach station, where intercity KTEL buses leave for Volos. In the high season (beginning of July), the 11 a.m. bus will allow you to reach Volos at 1:30 p.m., in time to catch the 2 p.m. local bus out to Kissos, with a cost of 6 EUR.
Before July and in September, you will have to catch the 8:15 a.m. bus, as the local bus to Kissos leaves Volos at 1:30. The 3:15 p.m. bus from Thessaloniki, is the latest bus, allowing you to get to Volos in time for the 5:45 p.m. Friday afternoon pickup. The train from Thessaloniki is not recommended because the journey takes twice as long as the bus.
To get to Kissos from Volos, you also have the option of taking a local Pilio bus, which leaves daily at 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. It takes a scenic route around the mountain peninsula before arriving at Kissos, two and a half hours later. Note that the best day to arrive, for workshop participants, is Friday; giving you time to settle in before the workshops begin, on Saturday.
If you must fly to Volos on Thursday, please plan to spend the night there. If you plan to do this, and will arrive in Volos on the same day that you would like to arrive at Kalikalos, be sure to take the bus from Athens by 9 a.m., or the bus from Thessaloniki by 10 a.m., in order to arrive in Volos in time to catch the local Agios Ioannis (Kissos) bus.
Another option is to take a taxi for about 225 EUR from the Thessaloniki Airport (SKG), a practical option for 3 or 4 people.
There's also the option of taking a cab from Volos for about 50 euros. Tell the driver to take you to the Kissos Platia (village square). Kalikalos is 40 meters up the road from there.
