Day1: Narita/Haneda - Tokyo

Upon arrival at Narita airport, clear customs, immigration and board the airport limousine coach transfer service to your accommodation in Tokyo, for 2 nights. A coach transfer service can also be provided if you are arriving into Haneda Airport. Overnight at the Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo.

Day 2: Tokyo

Full day sightseeing of Tokyo by coach, visiting the Tsukiji fish markets, the Tokyo Sky Tree observatory, and the Kappabashi kitchen town. Enjoy tempura lunch (lunch will be provided at the Tempura Restaurant in Asakusa, and welcome dinner at a unique local restaurant), Asakusa Kannon Temple, the Nakamise shopping arcade and take a Sumida river cruise. Overnight at the Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo.

Day 3: Tokyo - Mt. Fuji - Kawaguchiko

Travel by coach to Mount Fuji and the Hakone area. Take a cruise on a pirate boat in Lake Ashi and the Hakone ropeway to Owakudani valley. After a French cuisine inspired lunch, you will travel to Mount Fujis 5th station and visit Fuji visitor center. Lunch French cuisine and have dinner at your hotel: Japanese and Western buffet. Overnight at the Highland Resort and Spa, in Kawaguchiko.

Day 4: Kawaguchiko - Takayama

Take this unique opportunity to meet a local produce farmer at a Wasabi farm. Visit Matsumoto Castle on the way to Takayama. Dinner tonight is at a barbecue restaurant, where you will have Hida-gyu beef barbecue, a Takayama specialty. After dinner, relax and unwind in the Onsen hot springs at your accommodation. Overnight at the Hida Hotel Plaza in Takayama.

Day 5: Takayama

In the morning, visit the Takayama markets, where fresh local produce is sold. Visit Takayama Jinya; Takayamas Kami Sannomachi street (old private houses). Afternoon is free time to stroll around Takayama city and enjoy some shopping. Overnight at the Hida Hotel Plaza, in Takayama.

Day 6: Takayama - Shirakawago - Shiga

Depart Takayama and visit the World Heritage listed area of Shirakawago. Enjoy a local cuisine for lunch. Travel to the Shiga region, visiting Hikone Castle and Genkyuen Garden. Dinner tonight will be a Japanese course meal at your Japanese Ryokan accommodation. Overnight at the Yuzanso, in the city of Otsu.

Day 7: Shiga - Osaka

After breakfast, discover the historical town of Shigaraki, famous for its pottery. In the afternoon tour Osaka, visiting the Floating Garden Observatory, the Osaka Castle, the Shitenno-ji Temple and the Namba area. Dinner tonight is Italian cuisine at a local restaurant. Overnight at Hotel Nikko Osaka.

Day 8: Osaka - Mount Koya

Travel to Mount Koya visiting Okuno-in Temple, lined with hundreds of thousands of small stone pagodas. Also, visit Danjogaran complex, a sacred place representing the concept of Shingon Mikkyo Buddhism, established by Kobo Daishi. Dinner: Japanese cuisine at Fukuchi-in temple. Overnight at Fukuchi-in temple (temple lodging).

Day 9: Mt. Koya - Nara - Kyoto

Travel to Nara, visiting Todaiji Temple, Nara Park and Kasuga Shrine. For lunch enjoy Soba (Japanese noodles). In the afternoon, travel to Kyoto city, where you will experience Japanese sweet making. Dinner is on your own. You might like to visit the famous Gion district, filled with shops, restaurants and ochaya (teahouses), where Geisha and Maiko entertain. Overnight at the Kyoto Tokyu Hotel.

Day 10: Kyoto

Send your large luggage onto Tokyo city. Visit major sites of Kyoto: Nijo Castle, Golden Pavilion, Heian Jingu Shrine, Sanjusangendo and Kiyomizu Temple. Enjoy a traditional Tea Ceremony at Kodaiji Temple. Lunch will be Western style and dinner will be at a locally famous mystery traditional restaurant, specializing in Kyo-Kaiseki (traditional Japanese banquet), consisting of a large variety of small dishes. Overnight at the Kyoto Tokyu Hotel

Day 11: Kyoto - Tokyo

In the morning, partake in a special cooking class where you will learn and taste some famous Japanese dishes. In the afternoon, travel by Shinkansen Bullet Train to Tokyo. Farewell dinner at an Izakaya, a Japanese tavern with a wide menu selection of small dishes. Overnight at the Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo.

Day 12: Tokyo

  • Your sightseeing and culinary journey will finish after breakfast.
