Can't really fault this place, it's not luxury, but comfortable, the staff are efficient and friendly, the location is good (near a few good wineries such as Andrew Thomas) and has a nice little walking track on the property as well as wine school, brewery and restaurant, so you can't go wrong! Will definitely stay here again.

My wife and I did the Hunter Valley Wine School and it was fantastic, our host Terry Power was very knowledgeable teacher. He had a very open learning environment and answered every question to an excellent level. I would definitely recommend this to my friends.

We held a work conference here for three days. All of the staff from reservations to the kitchen staff were very accommodating and friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble. The events coordinator made the whole process from start to finish stress free.

All meals provided (breakfast, morning & afternoon tea, lunch and dinner) were delicious and nobody went hungry! They also accommodated for Gluten Free last minute and each meal was given a great review.

We had a couple of last minute changes and the staff were more that happy to accommodate our needs. We also had a short vineyard tour and a wine and cheese tasting session which was fantastic! All of the guests were very impressed.

It has everything you need in the one place, I must not forget to mention the amazing wine and the Matilda Bay beer!

I would highly recommend this venue for a conference or for a family getaway.

    I will be back!

We spent 3 nights here in March. It's a bit different from the chain hotels around the valley. The rooms are in cabins in the grounds- it has a lovely rural feel. The restaurant is excellent, the bar is great fun with a selection of good beers as well as the wine, and the desserts were delicious. Nice outdoor dining space. Good breakfast. In the middle of the wine country- wild kangaroos to be seen, lots of other wineries around to visit too. A really good choice. Highly recommended. Stayed March 2015, travelled as a couple.

Stayed here overnight with a group of colleagues and truly enjoyed it. Had a room facing the vineyard with very comfortable bed, pillows and duvet. There's a coffee and tea making facilities, flat screen TV and good shower with bathtub. What is important here are the activities that you can do with your colleagues, friends or family. You can learn to do chocolates, candy floss, how wines are made and also wine and beer tasting. It doesn't stop there, you must try the Segway. Riding it through the countryside was really awesome! There's a spa as well but we didn't had the chance to check that out. The whole experience was really memorable. The location of this hotel is just 10 mins away from almost everything that is available in Hunter Valley such as aqua golf, Christmas Light garden, cheese making factory etc. I will surely return to stay here with my family soon.

We very much enjoyed our 3 night stay at this resort. We had bought a package, which included wine theatre, a 2 course meal with a glass of wine, breakfast each morning and two hour bike hire. Check in by Jade, was friendly and efficient. She later made several calls for us, trying to book a table at restaurant. Being Sunday, many were closed. Nathan's wine theatre and talks out by the vines were interesting and amusing. The daily breakfast was good, as were other meals we enjoyed in the restaurant and Brewery. The accommodation was a basic motel type room, but good value, considering what we had paid for the package.

I bought a groupon voucher which included two nights at the resort and upgraded to the spa room. The room was reasonable enough, not 5 star wow, but quite acceptable. The staff were great! Nathan at the cellar door is very friendly. The wine education stuff is great. I learnt a lot which made my whole stay in the Hunter better. The restaurant is also fine. Overall I highly recommend the Hunter Resort as a base for a winery weekend or more.

We visited this hotel (with my wife and adult daughter). We had a room which had a double bed and a lounge bed, which could fit a 4th person if you pull out a bed from underneath. So, you need to know that he accommodation is more cabin style. It is not 5 star. But it's nice. The rooms were clean but simple. No issues really. We received breakfast, which was plentiful and simple. But again, it was nice. For me the highlight of our 2 night stay was the wine tour. It was included in our rate. Actually, I rang the hotel and negotiated a lower rate than what they advertise. I recommend that you do this - as you should always do this when booking hotel rooms. If you don't ask you don't get. Anyway, the wine tour (and I reckon I have done 15-20 over the years) was the best one I have ever done. It went for 2 hours and Bill was magnificent. He was very thorough and we leant a lot from him. So because of Bill, I would suggest that you pop in here (if the budget is tight) and stay a night or two. Request Bill (I think that was his name) to do the wine tour. He's a champ! Also, we went across the road to the restaurant and had a steak/glass of wine combo, for one evening meal. I think the cost was $12 per person. Yes, a steak and a glass of wine for $12. Now that was good value. Check it out!

We recently visited the Hunter Valley for a mid-week get away at the Hunter valley Resort. We were very excited by the theme park style activities here, unheard of in the Valley before. While the accommodation overlooking the vineyards is good, it is the wine experiences that make this resort excellent. There is the guided tour of the vineyard by one of the winemakers, a very informative multimedia presentation of the wine making process with a questions and answers forum at the end. There is also a separate presentation by a winemaker running through wine judging techniques and wine variety discovery. This was really interesting and we learned a lot. We have not come across such interesting and valuable presentations in all our world wine region travels. The separate bar has many craft beers to choose from and the main restaurant is very classy offering wines tasted earlier during the wine judging course. The resort is a wow for wine enthusiasts, staffs are very switched on and we highly recommended a stay here.

We had a great time wine tasting here. We were lucky to be served by Terry who has so much knowledge and taught us a lot as well as just having a great personality. It was a great place to end our day of wineries.
