Testimonials

  • Review by Chip P.

"We arrived to find out that our room wasn't ready. Something had broken in the bathroom and we wouldn't be able to stay in the room and they were completely booked. Before we could lose hope they let us know they'd found a villa for us to stay in and that their driver would accommodate us for the night. Service and facilities were top notch for the entire stay. Totally recommend this wonderfully run hotel."

"Carmella leads her team of professionals who will make sure you have a holiday experience to remember. Perched atop the Amalfi Coast, between Positano (10 kilometers) and Ravello, Praiano and this lovely hotel is a great alternative to the bustle yet convenient to both. Large rooftop pool and sun lounges with views in every direction plus a good restaurant. Rooms are nicely decorated with sweeping views back to Positano. Praiano is a tiny village with many highlight restaurants within 5 kilometers - there's even a late night roof top bar across the road and grocery shops by the hotel. Plan your side trips to Positano, Capri, Ravello with Ivana or Agnes who will attend to every detail for you from taxis or water taxis, to tours - without leaving a single detail for you to sort out. Praiano is a perfect Amalfi Coast option - more reasonably priced too than the hill top towns and a big advantage - level on site parking, no steps."

"Our daughter's wedding reception was held at the Tramanto D'Oro. The entire party spent two nights at the hotel. An excellent hotel in an area of the Amalfi coast that is a bit less crowded with tourists. The hotel staff was wonderful and I hope to return to this hotel."

"My wife wanted to visit the Amalfi Coast but we were on the last minute and most places in the main centers were full, this turned out to be our best bit of luck she found this Gem hidden in Praiano. We booked two weeks and off we went. I made a point of mentioning the length of our stay as we found out later most people stay for around three to four days (far to short we believe) you miss so much. On our arrival we were greeted by the owner and given a brief history of the hotel family owned and run for many years in true Italian tradition the family eat most of there meals in the main dining room and for the most part from the same menu. Little wonder the food is fantastic we have never had better in fifty years of traveling the world and eating in some wonderful restaurants (eating is our hoby ) the service that goes with this experience is second to none nothing is to much trouble for the restaurant manager and his team. Our room was beautiful, the hotels public areas realy nice and a great rooftop sun bathing ara and pool with an excellent bar and snack services and a fantastic sea view. Situated halfway between Positarno and Amalfie it's the ideal spot for touring but get back for dinner I forgot to mention the wine list take the managers advise on the local wines, just great, no wonder we were so pleased to make this find and stayed the two weeks."

"I could not fault it. Amazingly helpful and friendly staff. One of the best views on the Amalfi Coast with good dining room with good wine list. Recently renovated rooms with en-suite bathroom and balcony. Praiano is quieter than Positano, and easier to get to Amalfi and Ravello."

"Our stay at the Tramonto d'Oro Hotel in Praiano exceeded our expectations. The family who own and run the hotel, offer an experience, not just food and accommodation and our experience was magical. The family and staff could not have been more helpful with making recommendations and arrangements for us during our stay, from the seamless transfer from Napoli, to a wonderful boat trip to Capri. From being serenaded at dinner on the wonderful balcony to the experience of cooking with the chef. And those views! Our departure came too soon and although we thought we had everything packed, we found when we arrived home we had left our hearts behind at Tramonto d'Oro! Must return soon."

"We had this hotel recommended to us by a friend of our daughter who had stayed there on a few occasions. This is a excellent hotel; our room (with balcony overlooking Positano's bay and with a view of Capri in the distance) was superb in every way. This is a family run hotel with a most accommodating management and staff who truly care about their guests. And to cap everything off, the dining room offers top level cuisine that you will long remember. We ate all our dinners in the hotel looking out toward Capri and Positano and into the sunset!"

"My husband and I knew we wanted to get married in Praiano. We had been there a few years ago and fell in love with the town, the people, and of course the views. My husband is from Rome and I am from the US, so it was important that we choose a destination that would impress both our Italian, American, and our other guests coming from as far as Singapore and Venezuela.Hotel Tramonto d'Oro really delivered. The venue was absolutely beautiful with glass windows allowing for sweeping views of the Amalfi Coast and Chiesa San Gennaro, the church that we got married in. The food was incredible, which was very important to us. We take food very seriously and there was not one complaint! Every course was delicious and highlighted the local seafood perfectly. The staff was warm and friendly and treated us and our guests very well. We felt like family when we were here. We stayed here for two amazing nights. The room was immaculate, modern, and beautiful. The hotel was decorated to reflect the stunning beauty of Praiano with typical ceramics and the colors of the coast. We will cherish our wedding day forever and Hotel Tramonto d'Oro played a major role in ensuring we had the best day ever!"

"Four of us stayed there at the end of May and had a spectacular experience. The hotel was great in every respect: beautiful views of Positano and Capri, spacious and comfortable rooms, and very well located for tourism purposes. As you will read in many reviews, the warmth and hospitality of the owners and staff made a great stay even better. One of our highlights was the cooking class we took at the hotel. We learned to make gnocci and tiramisu. The class was super fun and very personal. If you have any doubts about staying here, cast them aside. Tramonto d'Oro is a gem, and I plan to come back."
