I went to the Solcalante restaurant "Acqua Pazza" with my family. The place is fantastic. It is on the cliff of the Ciraccio Beach with the perfect view on the sunset. While having dinner, you admire the island of Ischia and we could even see the far Ventotene as well as the whole gulf of Gaeta. Perfect location and amazing garden (very tastefully decorated). Food: top. Fresh local food cooked in a very refined way. Something different from all others restaurant. Delicious and original starters. Super fresh tagliatelle with rocket pesto and mussels. Original spaghetti risottati with clams and saffron. Super tender octopus and amazingly cooked on the grill accompanied by a roll of scarola....mhhh so yummy. We had fresh withe wine "biancolella" from ischia. So good for a great summer night dinner.
We stayed at Solcalante early July. We love this place, the atmosphere, the owners, the food. It was our second time here and it felt like coming back home. The hotel is cozy, conveniently located (two nice beaches are walking distance) and has a wonderful view over Ischia from the Dehor Restaurant. The breakfast is good with plenty of choice but you have to try home made jams and marmalade handmade by Mr. Franco, the owner, who is a very warm host. We like to try different restaurants and had a couple of dinners at the hotel's one, called Acqua Pazza, which stands out for fresh quality and well prepared dishes you can appreciate while having a breathtaking view of Ischia by night. Rooms are simple, cozy, and clean. Overall, the hotel is an excellent choice for Procida. But remember this island is something else, the atmosphere is rather unique as if time had stopped. If you are looking for the buzz or can't live without everything working perfectly well, not sure you will totally enjoy. But if you are looking to have a great rest, enjoy breathtaking views, a slow pace and great fresh food, you must visit Procida and Solcalante is your place.
