At Highlands Resort, you will stay in a private cabin with a king bed, an oversize 2-person soaking tub, gas fireplace, and wet bar which provides a backdrop for a memorable honeymoon. Your private porch has lovely views and a lounger for soaking up the sun.

Notes

  • Highlands Resort has several pet-friendly cabins.
  • The resort is TV free zone. The goal is to encourage interpersonal communication. Thus, Highlands Resort has TVs in only two units (Pool Suite and Garden Suite).
  • The resort is a smoke-free resort (including vapor). However, you are allowed to smoke in the designated smoking area which is in a beautiful circle of redwood trees.
  • Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m. Highlands Resort doesn't allow disruptive partying, radios, CD players, iPods, etc. anywhere at the resort unless you are using earbuds.

During your honeymoon, you will experience a customized self-guided wine tasting tour. There are over 50 local wineries within a 20 mile radius of Highlands Resort and another 150 more in the rest of Sonoma County. Highlands Resort has done extensive research on the local tasting rooms in Healdsburg, Alexander Valley, Forestville, Dry Creek, and Sonoma and can tailor a wine tasting excursion especially suited to your taste in wine.

You will also have a Sonoma picnic to make your honeymoon more memorable. Indulge with an assortment of delicious treats. Highlands Resort will put together a lovely assortment and have everything waiting for you upon your arrival. Those include two local cheeses. One will be firm and the other soft. Also, there is a generous portion of local salami (usually either Columbus sausage or Molinari) to enjoy with crackers or flat bread along with a selection of olives.

Sonoma County has a number of excellent artisan cheese makers. Some of Highlands Resort’s favorites include Bellewther Farms, Marin French Cheese Co, Matos Farms, Spring Hill Farm, and Cypress Grove.

This honeymoon will take place at Highlands Resort located in Guerneville. Guerneville is surrounded by beautiful redwoods and cool river waters. It is about an hour and a half north of San Francisco. The resort is up on the hill and has over nearly 3 acres of trees and gardens, the nice view for your unforgettable honeymoon.

You will have breakfast delivered to your cabin each morning. The breakfast includes coffee, juice, homemade granola, yogurt, milk, fresh fruit, and a homemade baked treat.

You will be pampered with two 60-minute “A Touch of Heaven” massage therapy at Highlands Resort either outdoors in the center of a grove of mature redwoods or indoors in the comfortable Tuscan Room.

You can also experience mud bath in Indian Springs, Calistoga, at an extra cost. This place is only a 45-minute drive from the resort. It has an Olympic size hot pool to float around in after your treatment. You will feel very relaxing and vintage after the treatment.

Driving directions from San Francisco

  • Head north across the Golden Gate Bridge. This puts you on Interstate 101 heading North.
  • Follow I-101 through Petaluma and Santa Rosa.
  • About 4 miles north of Santa Rosa, take the 'River Road' exit (do not take Guerneville Road).
  • Make a left off the exit and follow River Road for about 17 miles until you come to the village of Guerneville.
  • At the second stop light turn right onto Armstrong Woods Road.
  • Go two very short blocks and turn right on Woodland Drive.
  • Head up the hill and after about 1/8 mile, you will see Highlands Resort’s sign on the left, then a clump of trees, and then their driveway.
  • Head up the driveway to the parking lot.

Driving directions from San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

  • Get directions at your car rental agency to get on Interstate 380.
  • From I-380, follow the signs to I-280 north.
  • When it is safe, move into one of the 2 left hand lanes.
  • As you get closer to San Francisco, the freeway will split in two with the right hand lanes continuing to downtown San Francisco.
  • Follow the signs to Golden Gate Bridge / 19th Avenue / Highway 1 North.
  • The roadway will magically change from freeway to a major arterial (3 lanes) that heads due North and will go over the Golden Gate Bridge. All you have to do is follow the flow of traffic.
  • Once you are across the bridge, you will be on I-101.
  • Follow this through Petaluma and Santa Rosa.
  • About 4 miles north of Santa Rosa, take the 'River Road' exit (do not take the Guerneville Road exit).
  • Make a left off the exit and follow River Road for about 17 miles until you come to the village of Guerneville.

From Oakland International Airport (OAK)

  • At the rental car office get directions to get on I-880.
  • Get on the I-880 going north towards Oakland.
  • Keep to the right and take the I-980 east towards Walnut Creek.
  • Merge onto I-580 West.
  • As you go past the Berkeley exits, you’ll need to be in one of the 2 right hand lanes as I-580 will split off from I-80 and head for the Richmond Bridge, I-580 ends at Highway. 101. Take Highway 101 north.
  • Follow this through Petaluma and Santa Rosa.
  • About 4 miles north of Santa Rosa, take the 'River Road' exit (do not take the Guerneville Road exit).
  • Make a left off the exit and follow River Road for about 17 miles until you come to the village of Guerneville.
  • At the second stop light turn right onto Armstrong Woods Road.
  • Go two very short blocks and turn right onto Woodland Drive.

Driving directions from Sacramento

  • Take Interstate 80 westbound.
  • Just past Cordelia, you should see a sign that says Highway 12 West (it will probably say Napa).
  • Take this exit and follow Highway 12. Highway 12 merges with Highway 29 for a short distance and then with Highway 121. Keep pointing at the town of Sonoma when in doubt.
  • Highway 12 will go through the town of Sonoma and continue up through the Valley of the Moon.
  • You'll now be heading for the town of Santa Rosa.
  • In Santa Rosa, Highway 12 will wind about a bit and then turn into a real freeway. Take the Highway 101 Northbound exit and go north for about 4-5 miles.
  • Take the River Road exit (do not take the Guerneville Road exit).
  • Go left at the exit and follow River Road for about 17 miles.
  • This will bring you into Guerneville. At the second stop light take a right on Armstrong Woods Road.
  • Go to very short blocks and take a right on Woodland Drive.
  • Go up the hill about 1/8 mile and you will see Highlands Resort’s sign on the left, followed by a clump of trees, and then their driveway.
  • Head up the driveway to the parking lot.

Driving directions from Ukiah

  • You'll be heading south on Highway 101.
  • Go through Healdsburg (don't take the exit in Healdsburg that says Guerneville unless you want a really picturesque drive through winding country lanes dotted with wineries).
  • Go past the town of Windsor and take the Fulton Road exit.
  • At the light turn right onto River Road.
  • Follow River Road for about 17 miles until you come to the village of Guerneville.
  • At the second stop light turn right onto Armstrong Woods Road.
  • Go to very short blocks and turn right onto Woodland Drive.
  • Head up the hill and after about 1/8 mile you will see Highlands Resort’s sign on the left, then a clump of trees, and then their driveway.
  • Head up the driveway to the parking lot.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 2 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
