You will be staying at Maison D’hanoi boutique hotel or a similar hotel in Hanoi. You will spend a night on the Legacy Legend Cruise while sailing through the Halong Bay and one night traveling towards Lao Cai, in a first class sleeper train with shared cabins and four berths. You will stay in a standard hotel and do homestay while touring through Sapa. While in Tam Coc, you will be making an overnight stay at the Yen Nhi, three-star hotel.

Day 1: Arrival in Hanoi and food on foot tour

Your tour begins with a pick up from Noi Bai International Airport (HAN). The representatives of Halong Promotion Tours will transfer you to the Maison D’hanoi boutique hotel or a similar hotel, where you will receive a welcome drink. You will have free time to explore the city of Hanoi, and at around 06:00 p.m., your tour guide will pick you up to enjoy a food on foot tour that will include five to seven meals!

Day 2: Legacy Legend Cruise

After a gastronomical delight on your first day, be prepared for an exciting day ahead today

  • 07:30 Pick up from your hotel and departure for Halong city passing through the countryside, farmlands, and Red River Delta
  • 10:15 Stopover on the way for a refreshment break
  • 12:30 Arrive at Halong Harbor and transfer to the Legacy Legend Cruise. Enjoy welcome drinks and lunch on board
  • 15:00 Visit Titop island. You may also enjoy swimming at the beach
  • 16:15 Enjoy kayaking and swimming in the Lan Ha Bay. You will have around 45-minutes to explore the tranquil bay by yourself
  • 17:15 Return to cruise and enjoy your time by relaxing, taking pictures, and enjoying a small party with fresh fruits and Vietnamese tea
  • 19:00 Dinner. You will cruise to Luom Bo area for docking and sleeping
  • 21:00 Leisure time to enjoy a chat around the bar, dancing, enjoying karaoke, watching a movie, etc. Just relax and spend a romantic night on board

Day 3: Me Cung Cave and transfers to Sapa

Start your day with Tai-Chi exercises or a photo hunt. You will be visiting the Me Cung cave and taking transfers to Sapa today

  • 07:00 Enjoy your breakfast, coffee, and tea while cruising ahead to Halong Bay
  • 08:00 Visit the splendid Me Cung cave, one of the most beautiful grottoes in Halong Bay
  • 09:15 Return to cruise to get refreshed. Sail towards the harbor, passing through many beautiful islets and islands on the Bai Tu Long Bay
  • 10:30 Enjoy participating in a Vietnamese cooking class
  • 11:00 Relish an early lunch
  • 12:00 Arrive at the pier and check out from the cruise
  • 12:45 Return from Halong to Hanoi
  • 17:00 Arrive in Hanoi. You will have around three and a half hours to be on your own, here
  • 20.30 Transfers to Hanoi railway station for a nine-hour journey to Lao Cai. You will travel in a first class sleeper train with shared cabin and four berths

Day 4: Arrival at Lao Cai and exploring Sapa

Today, you will be exploring the beautiful Sapa

  • 05:30 You will be picked up from the railway station by the representatives of Halong Promotion Tours and will then take a bus to reach Sapa
  • 09:00 Visit Cat Cat village, inhabited by the Black H’mong people. You will also have a chance to visit a waterfall and the hydroelectric power station built by the French
  • 12:30 Return to Sapa town and relish your lunch at a restaurant
  • 14:00 Post lunch, enjoy your free time to visit Sapa town and market. You can rent a motorbike to discover Sapa by yourself or have a herbal bath of Red Dzao people
  • 18:00 Dinner. Overnight stay will be in a hotel

Day 5: Trek to visit Lao Chai and Ta Van

You will visit the local villages and enjoy trekking, on this day

  • 07:30 Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and check-out
  • 09:00 Your tour guide will take you to visit the villages of the H’mong and Dzay people called Lao Chai and Ta Van. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your homestay

Day 6: Visit Ham Rong Mountain

Today you will visit Ham Rong Mountain (Dragon Jaw Mountain)

  • 07:30 Enjoy your breakfast and bid good bye to your warm and hospitable hosts
  • 08:00 Take a bus back to Sapa town and then visit Ham Rong Mountain also known as the Dragon Jaw Mountain. Enjoy the scenery and make stops for taking photos, on the way. You may also have a chance to see the orchid flower garden and get an overview of the Sapa town
  • 12:00 Enjoy lunch at a restaurant followed by free time
  • 15:00 Depart Sapa to arrive at Hanoi in the night. Overnight stay will be in a hotel

Day 7: Visit Hoa Lu and Tam Coc

Today you will be visiting the ancient capital of Hoa Lu and enjoy a boat trip at Tam Coc

  • 08:00 Breakfast and check out from the hotel
  • 10:30 Arrive at the ancient capital of Hoa Lu. This visit offers a chance to know more about part of feudal dynasties and historical periods in Vietnamese history
  • 12:00 Leave Hoa Lu to reach Tam Coc. You will have lunch at a local restaurant in Tam Coc, serving their specialty of local goat meat
  • 13:30 Start your two hours boat trip to visit Tam Coc. Overnight stay will be at Yen Nhi three star hotel at Tam Coc. Enjoy free time and dinner by yourself

Day 8: Visit Cuc Phuong National Park

This day will take you to visit the Cuc Phuong National Park and later return to Hanoi

  • 07:40 Check-out and depart for Cuc Phuong National Park, photographing spectacular views through countryside road
  • 09:20 Visit the endangered primate rescue center which is home to species like the golden headed langur, Tonkin snub-nosed langur, and the black crested gibbon
  • 10:30 Experience thrilling moments when exploring caves of prehistoric man that are about 7000 years old
  • 11:30 Enjoy a local style Vietnamese lunch at the national park headquarters
  • 12:30 Spend hours trekking through the jungle. You will get to see Cho Chi, a giant tree that has stood for thousands of years
  • 14:30 Get a bus transfer back to Tam Coc and further return to Hanoi
  • 18:00 Arrive back in Hanoi. Overnight stay will be at Maison D’hanoi boutique hotel or a similar hotel

Day 9: End of the tour

Today mark's the end of your tour and you are free to visit Hanoi and buy souvenirs until you are transferred to Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) for your flight back home.

Enjoy a trip to Tam Coc

Tam Coc means three caves in Vietnamese and is considered as "Halong Bay on land", sitting on a boat rowed by a local lady and sailing across river Hoang Long, you will get to see the first limestone mountains running along their river for several kilometers.

Explore Halong Bay

If you go to Vietnam and don’t go to Halong Bay, you will surely miss a breath taken experience. There is something mystical about seeing hundreds of islands rising out from the sea. It is absolutely beautiful and you won’t see anything like this anywhere in the world. Enjoy cruising and exploring various spots while sailing through here.

Explore villages of Lao Chai and Ta Van

You will visit the villages of local communities and get to do a homestay for a night, with them. You will start trekking from the hotel towards the villages, covering a distance of about 10-kilometers. In the afternoon, you will join a homestay of ethnic people enjoying Vietnamese tea and cooking time with them.

See the Cuc Phuong National Park

Cuc Phuong National Park is located 100-kilometers south of Hanoi in the Ninh Binh province. The park is conveniently located on the route to several tourist attractions, including Bich Dong Pagoda, Hoa Lu, and Sam Son beach. It was officially opened in 1960 as the first national park in Vietnam.

Cuc Phuong National Park is surrounded by several limestone cliffs, the highest being May Bac, meaning “silver cloud,” with a height of 656-meters. There are plenty of plants and mammals living in the park. There are an estimated 2,000-different species of flora and about 450-species of fauna that accounts for 38 percent of the national fauna of Vietnam.

See the Ham Rong Mountain

You will get to visit the Ham Rong Mountain also known as the Dragon Jaw mountain, in Sapa Town. On the way, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery or stop for taking photos. You will also have a chance to see the orchid flower garden and get an over view of the town of Sapa.

Take a tour to the ancient capital of Hoa Lu

Hoa Lu was the capital city of Vietnam under the Dinh Dynasty between 968 and 980 AD and ancient sanctuaries and tombs can still be seen today. In 968, Dinh Bo Linh declared himself as the king and since then Hoa Lu existed as the capital for the next 41-years (968 - 1009).

For 12-years it was ruled by the Dinh dynasty and for remaining 29-years it was ruled by the Le dynasty. In 1010, King Ly Thai moved the capital from Hoa Lu to Thang Long which is present day Hanoi.

This visit offers a chance to know more about part of feudal dynasties and historical periods in Vietnamese history. Apart from the historical importance, the area is naturally beautiful, referred to many as the “dry Halong Bay,” with limestone peaks and fertile green valleys.

The tour includes being rowed along the Boi River, which makes for a truly unforgettable experience, passing between towering limestone peaks.

Visit Me Cung Cave

You will be visiting the Me Cung Cave, before heading out for Sapa. This is one of the most beautiful grottoes in Halong Bay. You will be amazed learning about imposing of stalagmites, stalactites, and many legendary stories associated with it.

Visit Sapa

Sapa is home to a great diversity of ethnic minority people. It is likely that Sapa was first inhabited by highland minorities of H’mong and Yao group and later came the Tay, Zay, and a small number of Xa Pho to form the existing five main ethnic groups which make about 85% of the district’s current population.

Most of the ethnic people live in small villages and hamlets scattering in valleys and mountains throughout the district. The town makes for amazing scenery and local villages to visit and acquaint oneself with the local culture.

You will enjoy visiting Cat Cat Village inhabited by the Black H’mong people. You will also have a chance to visit a waterfall and the hydroelectric power station built by the French, here. This activity takes two-hours walking up and down to the valley.

Visit Titop island

The Titop island is one of the most beautiful islands in Halong Bay where you can climb up to the top and enjoy amazing Halong panorama view. You may also enjoy swimming at the beach. You can also enjoy kayaking and swimming while cruising through the Lan Ha Bay.
