"Perfect space for reviving!"
The atmosphere was relaxing and quiet. The grounds were incredible and very lush and jungle-like. The yoga area was beautiful and well equipped. The common area was comfortable and inviting.

- yoga instructors were great, knowledgable
- the staff was super sweet and did their best to meet all guests needs

I spent 14 days at Hacienda Del Sol, and it was actually life changing. I've been battling being up and down 20 pounds almost my whole life. It wasn't until I met Ramiro (who owns HDS with his amazing wife Crystal), that I really understood the kind of eating habits I needed to develop for my body and metabolism. I'd never heard of a Keto diet before going, and in 2 short weeks I have totally ended my lifelong struggle with carbs and have a healthy relationship with eating good fat.
The best part is Ramiro has stayed in touch with me to help me transition back to real life. He gave me a ton of resources and recipes to make the transition as easy as possible and it has been totally seamless and easy to maintain.
Everyone was accommodating and friendly, from the incredible women who prepared our meals every day to the insightful and peace-inducing yoga instructors and bodywork practitioners. You MUST have a session with Mahi -- she has an incredible touch. Char's restorative yoga was one of the best classes I've ever taken.
Ramiro was so accommodating in helping me organize a few outings (zip lining through the jungle and scuba lessons!), but if you just want to relax, eat good food and take care of your body you can do that too.
I can't wait to go back. This was a truly unique, fulfilling and life changing experience.

I had the pleasure of staying at Hacienda del Sol for two weeks after Christmas. I was in desperate need of a vacation after way too much work for years. I started looking for a holistic retreat that would force me to stop and focus only on myself and I absolutely found that at Hacienda del Sol.
This was my first time traveling internationally alone. Crystal arranged for a taxi to pick me up at the airport (I highly recommend this) as Hacienda del Sol is over two hrs away and very remote. The taxi driver comes from the town of San Juanillo (population 200) where Hacienda del Sol is located. I had no problem finding Tino (driver) waiting for me (Liberia airport is small- only 6 gates), he even stopped on the way and bought me a coconut to drink from a vendor on the side of the road.
Everyone at the resort was so kind and welcoming. I immediately made friends with several other girls who had either traveled alone or in pairs. Yoga is offered twice most days. I highly recommend taking a class by Angie. She teaches a style I had never done called kundalini, which is really motivating and inspiring. The vibe of Hacienda del Sol is very chill and geared toward listening to your body and taking care of yourself. The food is amazing, don't be scared of the raw diet it was so good it inspired me to continue eating a diet high in raw foods. You get a fresh smoothie or juice with each meal. There are no specific meal times, you just write down what you want and the time and the kitchen staff will have it ready for you.
I booked the Pura room for two weeks. Due to a glitch in their system the 2nd week was closed for a private Bikram yoga which I ended up joining and was awesome. The first few days I spent decompressing (sleeping and laying by the pool) and then, got more and more energy as time went on. By the end of the first week I was glad there was going to be a bit more going on during the second week at the yoga retreat. My personal suggestion is a week here is good, more and you may start to get bored.
The rooms are nice and clean and look directly out into the jungle. The resort has a total 12 rooms. At night you'll hear jungle noises including the howler monkeys (which sound like you're in Jurassic Park). There's no a/c but even with the daytime temperature being in the 90.s the room was cool in the evening. The black sand beach is amazing, most likely you'll be the only one on it and a 20-30 min walk away. I highly recommend walking down there for sunset, you can arrange for a cab to take you back for $5 (the same two cab drivers will take you wherever you need).
Overall if you're looking for a place get away, disconnect and recharge this is the place. Since I've been back I get numerous compliments on how I seem really good, grounded and happy. This place is life changing. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Hacienda del Sol. for making it such a special place.
