Come and experience Creole's tradition and history on an amazing four day holiday! Learn in-depth about the Reunion culture and cuisine and "revive and rejuvenate" in an authentic way. The picturesque holiday will give you the opportunity to meet new people, discuss with them, and learn about their lives, but also give you enough time to relax in the incredible countryside landscape of Reunion Island!
Set in the village of Cilaos, Otroiza Hotel features a garden, non-smoking rooms, and free Wi-Fi. The property is located two kilometers away from the base of Piton des Neiges.
Featuring mountain views, each room at Otroiza Hotel is fitted with a kettle, a flat-screen cable TV, and a desk. The private bathrooms have a walk-in shower, towels, soap, and slippers.
Free parking is also available at the hotel.
During this holiday, you will have the opportunity to experience an authentic Creole lifestyle, where you will learn hands-on cooking and preparing delicious meals from the local. You can also participate in the local activities that are available.
You will arrive at your leisure, but kindly note that the hotel room is available after 2 p.m. As for the rest of the day, you can rest and enjoy the village.
Between 9 and 10 a.m., you will arrive directly at Lili's sweet home with your own transport or you can ask Gourmets 2.0 to arrange you a private one.
You will enjoy the panoramic view of the mountains, while a welcoming breakfast will be served and it will include local cake and bread with jam, cheese, and butter.
You will enjoy your first Creole cooking lesson that will include tropical herbs and spices, fresh vegetables from Lili's tropical garden when available, for a unique home-cooked cuisine with Indian and African flavors blend.
An example of a menu might look like this: chicken samosa with fresh tropical juice or smoothie, Creole pork cari, Creole vegetables, lentils from Cilaos and chili rougail, rice, and home-made ice cream, a culinary creation of Lily's.
You will conclude the day with lunch and a Creole coffee made by Lily roasting coffee beans in the wood fire.
Between 9 and 10 a.m., you will arrive at Lili's sweet home to enjoy breakfast and proceed to the cooking class. An example of the menu might be chicken Creole bones with a fresh tropical punch, duck cari, vegetable gratin, Creole beans from the garden, arachid rougail, rice, and chocolate cake, a culinary creation of Lily's.
You will conclude the day with lunch and a herbal infusion from Lily's tropical garden or you may enjoy a cup of white tea, a local product.
At 9 a.m., you will enjoy a home-made brunch including Creole soup, coffee and tea, four home-made cakes, fruit salad, home-made bread with orange jam, different types of cheese, local products, stuffed vegetables (chouchou tropical vegetables) served with Creole roll or Creole smoked sausage rougail with sweet potatoes.
Before continuing your holiday, you will be offered a taste of a variety of Reunion rums from local distilleries. The selection will range from the most modern and trendy blends to the most aged and arranged rums with fruit.
This is also your last day of the holiday.
Lili is a French citizen and loves traveling around the world and learning new culinary traditions. She proposes you to discover different culinary tastes such as Creole from Reunion Island, Indian tasting, or a French culinary experience. She loves to take care of her animals, her plants, her vegetables, and her fruits!
This vacation will take place in Ilet a Cordes, near Cilaos, which is located in the center of the Reunion Island, in France.
Ilet a Cordes is a small village with only 400 people and it is located 10 kilometers away from Cilaos. The village is spectacularly located at a high-altitude area, in a volcano caldera and it is nestled at the foot of the mountains encircling the French island of Reunion.
Reunion Island is one of the most unusual island paradises on the planet. When you enter Reunion, you are officially entering France, despite being more than 9,000 kilometers away from Paris.
Green Reunion, with its primitive forests and three large natural cirques: Mafate, which you can only reach by hiking along a trail, Salazie, a wonderland of waterfalls and rivers in the midst of lush vegetation, and Cilaos, with an unexpected alpine village nestled at the side of the mountain.
You will enjoy a full course meal with fresh seasonal ingredients from an organic tropical garden and the touch of Creole flavor. You will also enjoy two incredible cooking classes mixing Indian and African flavors and an amazing rum tasting session.
