A stay at the heart of Fontevraud Royal Abbey, witness to times of Eleanor of Aquitaine, Queen of France and then Queen of England. Formerly the home of a community of nuns, the tradition of serenity and hospitality has been renewed at the Fontevraud LHtel. Enjoy relaxing in the tranquil peace of the Abbey, walking alone through the monastery as night falls; these are some of the magical moments of stepping back in history. The 54 rooms of this four-star hotel have been fitted out with great respect for this almost 1000 year-old monument, whose face is firmly turned towards the future.
Each of the rooms is a cozy refuge: high-quality bedding, elegant contemporary furniture that uses noble materials such as oak, and is made with respect for the environment - all this made especially for Fontevraud LHtel. Connected, high-tech. The Saint-Lazare priory now lives to the rythmn of the 21st century, just like the iBar and the digital library that it houses. Each guest receives an iPad on their arrival, via which they access hotel services and can find out about the abbey and its surroundings. Fontevraud TV, the in-house TV channel, is screened in each bedroom. When the virtual is applied to a real environment in this way, it brings it to life!

Eating well is an essential part of life. Imagine the burnt crimson of a glass of Chateauneuf-du-Pape as the setting sun illuminates endless rows of purple lavende; or a traditional array of freshly-caught shellfish served with garlicky aioli on a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean coastline; or the simple pleasure of locally-harvested, sun-drenched olives and tomatoes practically bursting with flavor, savored alongside local cheeses. These are the innate joys of living the good life. Each region has a distinct soul and much of this is captured by its own unique food culture.
There is a simple satisfaction to be discovered that can only be experienced by sourcing the finest ingredients, treated with respect, and enjoyed in the setting where they are grown and cultivated. They seek to unearth this very soul and reveal it to you through the meals that you might prepare together, visits to local markets, the outstanding chefs who invite you into their restaurants, or the delectable wines whose distinctive styles have been passed down through generations.
The nearest train station to the location is St. Pierre des Corps TGV train station. Gourmet Cycling Travel will pick you up from the train station. The pick-up is included in the price.
