Tuscany Cooking Vacations

Thanks to local cooks, you will learn many secrets of the Tuscan and Italian culinary tradition. Although it is completely vegan food, you will discover the same strong flavors of traditional cuisine. Not only that, you will have the chance to discover the most beautiful areas of Tuscany and take part in many activities that can be arranged for you. In the Cultural Association, in a warm and informal ambient, Gioia di Vivere offers all their knowledge about natural cooking, gardening, and self-shiatsu. Together, you will prepare tasty recipes that are totally organic and vegan!

You will be hosted into wonderful typical Tuscan villas, surrounded by nature, set from 2 to 6-kilometer far from Gioia di Vivere cooking school. A short distance from the historic center of Lucca, in a privileged position, with breathtaking views of the natural beauty surrounding the city. Accommodation into large rooms with breakfast included or apartment with kitchen.

Day 1 - Arrival

  • Arrival and check into an apartment or a bed and breakfast.
  • Free time for relax or sightseeing.

Day 2 - Cooking class

  • In the morning, you will have your first cooking class, followed by lunch.
  • In the afternoon, you will have free time to relax or to take part in individual excursions (for example: hiking, biking paths, visit the charming villas of Lucca).
  • There is the possibility to book an organic vegan dinner prepared by a natural chef.

Day 3 - Cooking class

  • In the morning, you will have your second cooking class, followed by lunch.
  • Free afternoon to relax or to choose individual activities.

Day 4 - Cooking class

  • In the morning, you will have your first cooking class or a self-shiatsu and meditation lesson, followed by lunch.
  • In the afternoon, you will explore the historical center of Lucca.
  • There is the possibility to rent bicycles to ride on the walls that surround the city.

Day 5 - Departure

  • In the morning, you will have free time to relax.
  • Check-out and departure.

Children can join the classes from 6 years old. There is no nursery or childcare so unfortunately little ones are not admitted.

Recipes change depending on seasonal products of the organic garden and local farm markets. Please contact Gioia di Vivere if you need some advises or to arrange additional activities on your free time.

You can choose the most interesting topics of your cooking classes: traditional Tuscan cuisine in vegan version, handmade pasta and sauces, natural bread and pizza, savory cakes and pies, fast and delicious vegan recipes, vegan menu, vegetarian menu, natural vegan pastry, natural vegan ice cream, sorbets and ices. Otherwise, on request, additional topics of your interest are available.

Recommended Airports

Driving directions from Florence A11 motorway

  • From Florence A11 motorway Firenze-Mare, take the exit Lucca Est.
  • Go straight ahead until you find a round and take the third exit on your right.
  • Then at the second round take the first exit and turn left to find the traffic light.
  • Go straight along this main road until you cross the bridge on the river Serchio.
  • Then turn right when you meet the sign "S.Macario in Monte."
  • Follow the signs to Piazzano and then stop when you find a white sign S. Macario in Monte. Call us, we are just few steps.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Pisa International Airport (PSA) or Florence Airport (FLR). Taxi or private transfers from Pisa cost from 70 EUR one way.

Arrival by train

From Florence or Pisa airport, you may take the train to Lucca. Shuttle and train to Lucca cost 6.50 EUR.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 20% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
